Samba 4.9.3 and the "10 hour problem"
We have a setup with a bunch of Dell servers acting as fileserver for the university here, running FreeBSD with Samba (and NFS & SFTP) to provide service for staff & students. This works in general really (very) well. We have around 4000-5000 SMB connections spread over 6 servers during “rush hours” (8am-5pm). However, due to some strange (I bet it’s due to the service ticket timeout)

sysctl maxfiles
By default FreeBSD 7.0 shipped with the sysctls set to: kern.maxfiles: 12328 kern.maxfilesperproc: 11095 We recently bumped up against these limits in an unfortunate way and we are going to raise them. I have some questions: * why are the numbers set the way they are? They aren't round numbers, they aren't powers of 2. But they were arrived at somehow with planning and thought

Multiple Fstats/breakpoints test using Panel data
...strucchange package in R with a single time series observation. I found it extremely useful in the testing of change points. Now, I am thinking of using the strucchange package with panel data (about 500 firms, with 73 monthly time series observations each). For each firm, I have to conduct the Fstats and breakpoints tests. Based on the test of each firm, I have to output a table/histogram with the number of times each SupF test is significant and the frequency that a breakpoint is observed in each of the 73 months. In summary, I have to conduct the Fstats/breakpoint test 500 times and summar...

wbindo slow
good morning everyone. I apologize if it is recurrent. But not yet found a solution. I have a problem of slowness when running "wbinfo -u" command. Analyzing the outputs of "strace" command, I noticed some timeout. After several searches, I found information that indicated remove dead domains. I do not have these domains. I performed a fresh installation. My scenario is a

SSSD and usermod

SSSD was enabled with the following command: authconfig --enablesssd --enablesssdauth --ldapbasedn=dc=example,dc=com --enableshadow --enablemkhomedir --enablelocauthorize --update Running for example "usermod -L username" returns: usermod: user 'username' does not exist in

Can this be vectorized?
I want to produce some boxplots (and qqnorm plots) for each of a series of groups. It is easy to produce the boxplots or qqplots by groups using either by() or tapply(), but the moment that I want unique labels for each boxplot, I seem to be stuck using a for loop to achieve the effect. For example: tapply(fstat$femur, fstat$race, boxplot) by(fstat$femur, fstat$race, boxplot) gives nicely
