Oh crap. I checked on the original DC before I demoted it, and there were
only 5 displayed, so I thought that was all I should have. At least, I
transferred -all roles, and only those 5 made it. This is going to be a
pain to fix.

DC2 (again, DC1 and DC3 are the same):

Upgrade DC 4.5 -> 4.8, timings?

Just upgrade it. ;-)
It's not needed to move FSMO roles, in the last 4 years of upgradeing..
I did that exactly... 0 times.
Steps shown work fine. ;-)

Samba 4.3.x high CPU load

If I stop/start samba the high load switches to the other DC in this Site
and the same behaviour is exhibited.
Has anyone else experience anything like this? Could it be linked to the
recent patch for CVE-2015-5330 (Remote memory read in Samba LDAP server)?
I've tried patching...
