osx permission issue
hello, does somebody know how to circumvent that "extra file access restriction feature" introduced in osx some time ago ? i already tried adding rsync binary to programms with "full disk access" privilege ( system-prefs -> security & privacy -> privacy -> full disk access)? , since running as root is not sufficient - but it does not work. i want to make sure

osx permission issue
...security & privacy -> privacy -> full disk > access)?? , since running as root is not sufficient - but it does not work. "full disk access" likely refers to the ability to read the disk directly, bypassing the filesystem. It's used by maintenance programs like fsck and fsdb, and by some full-disk backup programs, but it won't help rsync. > i want to make sure that every file on osx is getting backup > > i run rsync on linux to remotely backup osx system (via ssh). > > regards > roland > > rsync: > readlink_stat("/private/var/folder...

gjournal on 6.x wont build
Hi all, I was intending on trying out gjournal on a new disk i've added in my desktop. I had a look to see what the most recent patch provided by Pawel and found http://people.freebsd.org/~pjd/patches/gjournal6_20061024.patch I created the directories as per Pawel's original post (http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-fs/2006-June/001962.html) and the patch succeeded with no failed

what actually uses xdr_mem.c?
In regards to FreeBSD-SA-03:05.xdr, does anyone know which static binaries or tools under /bin or /sbin actually use that problem code? The recent XDR fixes the xdrmem_getlong_aligned(), xdrmem_putlong_aligned(), xdrmem_getlong_unaligned(), xdrmem_putlong_unaligned(), xdrmem_getbytes(), and/or xdrmem_putbytes() functions, but it is difficult to know what uses these (going backwards manually).

unexpected softupdate inconsistency
Hi there, System is FreeBSD 4.9 Stable Had a problem during a portupgrade that when portupgrade did some cleaning a directory could not be deleted because it were not empty. However, it was empty. rm -rf didn't help either. Because I didn't know what to do I decided to boot. At system startup fsck was started which produced the message: unexpected softupdate inconsistency and also that
