frustration samba and LDAP
did someone really try to make this complicated or did it really just
turn out this way?? How can any of you use LDAP with its..
cn=xyz ou=abc godknows=whatelse ..complicated syntax.
I thought learning command line Linux was hard....I don't want to go
through that again!
*) frustrations not withstanding...I do sincerely thank the Samba team
for a package which has served us well for 3 years.

frustrations with shares
I dont know much about Solaris, but i found this.
There are problems with ACL's across platforms:
the uid has to match numerically
the gid has to match numerically
the NSF mount has to support the ACL operations, e.g., if the ACL grants write, but the remote file system is read-only then the ACL can not be honored.

A very frustrating read.table error message
Dear Colleagues,
Occasionally I deal with computer-generated (i.e., websurvey) data
files that haven't quite worked correctly. When I try to read the data into
R, I get something like this:
Error in scan(file, what, nmax, sep, dec, quote, skip, nlines, na.strings,

line 26 did not have 648 elements
...is there any way to get R to tell me how many elements line 26 *did*
have? That

Frustrating locale setting error
Hi all,
This has been very frustrating for me trying to get this acts_as_ferret
working well on a Fedora box. On my mac it works great, no problems with
locale, but when I put the code live on my Fedora server, it complains
about the locale setting (Error occured at <analysis.c>:498 Error:

frustrations with shares
I am trying to allow users with permissions in one group (DEV) to have full
access to a folder that is owned by (QA). I have not been able to figure
this out. Its running samba 4.2 in WORKGROUP mode (I can find everything
for domain but I am not ready for that). Its running on freebsd on the
latest nas4free build NAS with a ZFS file system..
Thanks in advance

Extreme frustration with GIMP
I saw Fred's later reply and am glad someone knew how to do it. I feel your pain, the gimp documentation isn't always the best. If you aren't already aware, when your work is suddenly undone, remember that Ctrl-Z (UnDo) is your friend. I found that I had to look for gimp tutorials on the web wherever I could and use the one that worked (as you discovered - not all do). And then

SOLVED - Re: Frustrations with MySQL loss, tcpdump, netstat, etc
Hi Guys,
OK, I figured out the problem, It would seem that Comcast spelling my DNS entry wrong would do it!
I have done this a zillion times, I was totally stumped as to what I would be missing this time.
Thanks everyone for their help.

Re: frustration samba and LD
Jim,
Perhaps you should forward your concerns to the OpenLDAP developers list
and hopefully they can work out something to streamline the process.
Perhaps they are already working on streamlining the system and require
some help in tightening up some of their ideas.
I am sure that they would welcome any suggestions that you may have.
Of course, some of the issues that you have

cat() in long-running functions only shows up on window resize (PR#6634)
Full_Name: Peter McMahan
Version: R 1.8.0 GUI
OS: Windows 2000
Submission from: (NULL) (67.107.205.66)
when running long functions with cat() commands inside, the requested data
doesn't show up until either the function has finished or the window is resized.
this is very frustrating for development purposes.

Frustrating experience - Xen networking.
Hello,
I am having a frustrating time trying to get bridge networking working.
I''ve gone over the Wiki page on the topic, a few of the howtoforge pages and
everything that I am doing is failing utterly.
What I want to achieve is to have Dom0 be a stub running two DomUs. One
DomU being a router/firewall and the other being the rest of what is on the
current machine.

Extreme frustration with GIMP
I am not a graphics person. Also can't afford to hire one.
Trying to follow instructions at
https://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-tutorial-quickie-separate.html
I use the "intelligent scissors" just like they say, spend quite a bit
of effort doing so.
Then click the foreground select tool - just like they say - and
suddenly everything I did with the intelligent tool is undone.
WTF?

CentOS 6 SFF motherboard or complete system
I am trying to assemble or purchase a set of CentOS 6 compatible SFF workstations, and am finding it incredibly frustrating to do so. hardware.redhat.com is so slow as to be useless and provides almost no information about each of the 1,300 or so products listed in their database; clicking through them one at a time is incredibly frustrating (and about half of them are discontinued or out of stock

Channel Bank Frustrations
I'm trying to get a Carrier Access Corp. Channel Bank I working with a
Digium T100P without success.
What is stranger is that the status lights on the channel bank and T100P
seem to change almost each time I power cycle the channel bank or reset the
T100P.
The channel bank has three status lights: T1, Framing, Status. T1 is green,
Status is yellow, and Framing is usually red but sometime

Frustrated with browsing, domains, and network logins ...
I'm trying to get cross-network browsing/domain logins working. In brief,
I am very frustrated. We thought the initial problem was a browsing
problem, but now it does not appear to be that. Even once the workstation
can see the servers, it STILL cannot perform a Domain login, although it
CAN access resources if I use the Ms Dos prompt and issue a 'net use ...'
command.

RSpec Texmate Bundle errors
I''ve the same problem as Alastair when running rspec command :
