Need kernel 2.6.9-43.unsupport fron centosplus
I have been using kernel from centosplus for a few months. It quite stable and have support for my TV card and ntfs partitions. However, after the last yum update, kernel 2.6.9-34 from the update repo has been installed with all other updated packages. In fact, i still have kernel 2.6.9-22.106.unsupport on my system but whenever i use this kernel, the cupsd can not start. Can anyone tell me

trouble with password authentication fron Windows to Linux
I've seen many posts on this subject and several days researching but have not understood much of what I'm reading. In over my head. Any help appreciated. Here are facts.... 1. I set up the samba on linux box. 2. connected two windows 98SE machines 3. All machines connect to router 198.168.0.1, and use DHCP 4. I set up a public directory on Linux box 5. I can browse with

Can't mount share DFS fron AD on a Linux Box.
Hello, I've got an Ubuntu Workstation integrated in an Active Directory domain. I'm really authenticated to the domain (with Kerberos clients, Winbind and Samba) and I can list the users of the domain with the wbinfo command. There's a DFS root share that is defined on each DC of the AD domain. When I try to mount that share with the mount.smbfs command : # mount -t smbfs

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which does not support this?
Hi, after ignoring this for too long (see [1]), I'm still struggling how to shut down servers fed by two independent UPS systems. Both are connected to NUT via the snmp-ups driver with mibs "huawei" and "netvision". However, I fear both do not feature the LB warning via ups.status. We can shut down all less important servers (conencted to a single UPS) via upssched

pxelinux fron Floppy disk?
Hi there, we are using a couple of Diskless Linux Workstations in conjunction with PXE capabable Network cards to boot the system. This works fine using pxelinux. However, there are a few workstations left, which are not able to boot via PXE and thus this workstations need a Kernel on a floppy disk and an additional initrd image. The Problem with is, that both of them don't fit on a floppy

Authenticating Users fron Foreign DB?
This is kind of a tricky problem. I have a forum (simplemachines) containing all of the users for my RoR app. The question is, how would I authenticate a user of a foreign app before giving them a session with the RoR app? (It''s not possible in this case to create a new ''user'' table in the rails app) Thanks -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which does not support this?
Makes sense, and a PR is a way to solicit feedback :) I'd document this for ups.conf (man page and examples), including a note that for devices which do provide a healthy LB these values may be set to 0 safely. Wondering if non-zero defaults should be there anyway. @Community, WDYT? Also, this critical-state check should be done only when the UPS is on battery (and perhaps not calibrating),

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which does not support this?
My $0.02: LB is baked in to nut behavior. So if a UPS doesn't report LB, then it makes sense to synthesize it. Synthetic LB is the cleanest fix at the earlier processing point. One could have a config that is basically synthetic-lowbatt-percent that generates LB if (as Jim says) on battery, not calibrating, and batt% <= that. One could have a similar config

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which does not support this?
Hmm, looking at status_commit(), if the UPS actually reported just ?OB", but the ?ignorelb? logic kicked in, wouldn?t status_commit() change it to ?OB LB?? And would clients interpret that correctly? And, assuming status_commit() is called, is the status so saved what?s returned on a future client query? I?m really unsure how all of this works. I don?t suppose there?s some kind of ?general

openssh-2.1.0p3 & NetBSD 1.4.2
I have a need to set up an ssh login server that groks both ssh1 and ssh2. I'm trying to build openssh-2.1.0p3 on NetBSD 1.4.2. Configure fails when it tries to build the test program conftest. It's not obvious fron config.log exactly what is going wrong. Has anyone built that latest openssh under NetBSD 1.4.2? Thanks in advance. -- Rick Kelly rmk at rmkhome.com www.rmkhome.com
