XP gives Access denied for domain logon
...wireless laptop. To sort out some problems I have with the logon.bat script [see sambalist "Netlogon script executes randomly"], I am also including my desktop computer to the domain. I've run the following commands on the server: useradd -m -k /home/samba/skeleton/ -d /home/samba/frode -g users -s /bin/false frode and smbpasswd -a frode and net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Users" unixgroup=users When I switch the XP computer from workgroup to domain I get a popup box for username/password for the domain. Here I write username frode, and the password I set with smbp...

XP gives Access denied for domain logon - solved, but with new problem
I found the solution to the Access Denied errormessage. When I change my computer from workgroup to domain I have to use user root when giving username and password. I used frode, a non priviliged user, and that?s why it failed. I still have another problem though. When I try to log on with user anna on my laptop it works fine, but if I try user anna on my stationary, or user frode on either computer I get the message "A device attached to the system is not functioni...

Getting stats for logged in domain users?
...ble to view how many domain users, and which ones, are logged in on the domain at particular times. The users use WinXP. Is there any way of getting number of logged on domainusers, their IP's or usernames? My alternative way is to write a perl script to analyze the samba logfiles. Thanks Frode

...or others to use? Microsoft and others want us to drop DHCP options and instead implement iphelpers in the router (if clients and servers are on separate subnets), but shouldn't be necessary as far as I can see. The origin of all this mess is again the PXE specification in my opinion... ...well as for the pxechn-module in specific. We have a setup at my workplace that are dependant upon this working and right now the only solution is to use legacy BIOS PXE-boot. Is there any fix for this in the recently mentioned 6.04 pre-release (soon to become release?)? Best regards, Jan-Frode

At the time of conversion mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir I used the following command to do the conversion: # dsync -u username convert mdbox:~/mdbox -- Frode Nordahl

Sieve too rfc compliant ;-)
It seems we have a few email addresses that are not RFC 5322 compliant, and now that we've started using sieve these are failing. The problem is that we have a few addresses with leading, trailing or double dots in the local part: jan..frode at tanso.net .janfrode at tanso.net janfrode. at tanso.net I believe these has been working fine with everything else in dovecot (lda, lmtp, imap, pop), but that sieve is more strict. I think it's fair enough that it's strict with messages generated by sieve scripts, but it would be nice...

utility to update indexes ?
We have both dovecot and a webmail application that are both modifying our users maildirs, so dovecot indexes can be out of sync when the webmail has been messing with the maildirs. We also have a webservice that report how many unread messages a user has in his inbox, which is simply counting files in the maildirs (plus caching the result, and present old values if the directory timestamps hasn?t

doveadm delete-user ?
IMHO it would be great if we could both provision and un-provision users without having the provisioning system mess with files in the filesystem. Provisioning new users works fine since dovecot will create all files/directories on first login, but I haven?t found the tools to un-provison them. I see "doveadm mailbox delete" can delete individual mailboxes, but what about indexes,
