Subsetting data leads to funky plots

Fring and Asterisk
Hi, Is anyone using Fring as a SIP client to an Asterisk server ? A prospective customer of mine is asking to integrate its iphones with an Asterisk server and after googling, I still have some unanswered questions : 1. Which codecs are available when calling from fring ? 2. Is it easy and natural to change your presence s...

Video Resolution
Hi I've just installed Tachyon: The Fringe and it plays but the max resolution that it detects is 1024x768. My monitor is 1600x900. Is there some way of helping it detect the full resolution? I've tried running with a desktop, but no joy. Wine version 1.7.46 Thanks

Anyone had any luck with SIP clients on theiPhoneplatform?
That sounds like the ideal app for me too. Fring requires we register with Fring and give them user id/password pair. In our case it did not work until we put a public IP on our Asterisk. I just bought WeePhone and I'll give it a try on the iPhone. Cheers, Enrique -----Mensaje original----- De: asterisk-users-bounces at lists.digium.com [m...

Anyone had any luck with SIP clients on the iPhoneplatform?
I'm using it rather successfully. Not perfect, but it works. It is limited to WiFi connectivity... at least here in Spain I cant get either client to work over 3G. I'm using Fring and Truphone. Although I have only configured a SIP to my Asterisk with Fring. Skype works fine. We tested with several Nokia 5800 (EM) using Fring. Call quality is worse. At best, we have a 1+ second delay. The SIP in the Mobile Phones are not able to register on asterisk
I am talking about the SIP. Now the new mobiles (Nokia, Erecson, Panasonic, iPot, ... etc) all of them support SIP capability. They are able to register to any SIP server (by giving the IP address, username and password). Fring is one of the software that can be installed on the mobile devices and can register on the SIP servers. BUT, the new mobiles currently come with built in SIP (no need to install fring on the mobiles, as it come already with SIP client). The problem that I am facing it: I tried to let my nokia mob...

Possibly unusual question involving windows version of wine.
Hey, I've heard that in a few fringe cases, WINE actually improves performance in a game. I believe I may be in one of these few fringe cases. Anyway, is there anyway to run a program in wine, while on windows? I've downloaded the windows binary .zips and I have no idea what to do with them. I've tried running the game...

thematic map of USA
...or something similar. Thus far I have tried using the maps package with its state database (which omits Alaska and Hawaii) and the gmaps package (which places an inset for Alaska in the lower left and uses a projection [Miller cylindrical?] that distorts states along the northern and southern fringe). I would be very grateful for suggestions about alternative approaches. John -- John P. Theora for webcam/conferencing use
...in mentioning all of this is to ask others' experience in using Theora for low-bandwidth or video conferencing settings. Are there more advanced settings that are better optimized for a "talking-head" kind of video, where there's more motion in a fixed area of a frame than on the fringes? Also, maybe something that can handle the inevitable white-balance and brightness adjustments that come with today's automatically adjusting cameras... Just some ideas. I was also thinking of coupling --soft-target along with --video-quality to get a minimum video quality, which might be...

RFC: Killing undef and spreading poison
...(as Eli says, we should not rely too much on semantics that are known to be broken), so the important question is whether "shl i16 poison, 8" _can_ be defined to be poison only on the higher 8 bits in a world with bitwise poison. If we could make that happen, we'd also get some other fringe benefits, like ComputeKnownBits would be able to fearlessly return "the low 8 bits of `shl i16 %val, 8` are 0" as opposed to "the low 8 bits of `shl i16 %val, 8` are 0 or poison". One problem with shl always generating non-poison zeroes in the lower bits is that it then is not...

Support for high DPI 4K screens
...e scaled or zoomed without affecting the relative sizing of all plot elements (line widths, font sizes, legend spacing etc). RStudio seems to try to overcome this by enabling dpi scaling for the plot window on high dpi screens, but this results in really fuzzy text and graphics (e.g. causing colour fringing when using Cleartype). This made me wonder if the assumed dpi of the screen could perhaps be set using some global option, so that all graphics could be made to scale their contents in a correct way, without affecting the size relative to the size of the plot window (I think now it is always ass...

Anyone had any luck with SIP clients on the iPhone platform?
Hi, I've tried two SIP clients so far and both have unusable outgoing audio quality. Skype app sounds fine, and recording the same mic sounds fine, so I can only assume there is an issue with the clients themselves. Both clients allow you to register and make calls via SIP with any abitrary provider and credentials, so they'll work with Asterisk. I've tried them with two good
