netscape to become freely redistributable
I presume by now that most everyone has heard that, starting later
this quarter with Netscape 5.0's developers' release, the Netscape
browser program and its source code will become freely
redistributable. They didn't say it would be GPL'd (GNU Public
License) but they said their source code would be available in the
spirit of the GPL.
Initially it bothered me that the

AD Model Builder now freely available
Hi All,
Following Mike Praeger's posting on this list,
I'm happy to pass on that AD Model Builder is now freely available from
the ADMB Foundation.
http://admb-foundation.org/
Two areas where AD Model builder would be especially useful to R users
are multi-parmater smooth optimization as in larg scale maximum
likelihood estimation and the analysis of general nonlinear random

Universal Packet Driver
I often boot DOS using MEMDISK and 33MB HD images for remote flashing.
After my flash I need to activate the NIC and send a signal. Currently I
use different packet drivers for different NICs, but this link below looks
like a universal solution:

3D graphics with R
Is there any graphical frontend/secondary programm (freely availible for
Windowsor Linux) which can be used with R to display the results of a
principle component analysis in 3D space (rotatable!?)? It works with
Spotfire, but is there any freely or cheaply availible programm?

migrating Samba PDC to a new server
Hi,
I'd like to migrate Samba 3.0.24-6etch10 PDC running on a Debian server to a
new
Ubuntu server. I plan to install Samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4 on the new server
and
then copy the files in /etc/samba and /var/lib/samba and copy the related
Linux
users in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. Will it work?
Thanks in advance!

Freely available PXE Bootroms?
Hi there,
slightly off-topic, but probably of interest on this list.
In the meantime there are freely available PXE Bootroms for lots of cards.
I'm aware of Intel, 3com and Realtek based cards.
I'm still looking for a PXE-Bootrom for Tulip based Cards though!
Would be nice to have a List of some sort on the PXElinux homepage.
So here is one Link I'm aware of:

Re: Cisco 7940/7960 SIP 8.2 Freely
It doesn't seem as much broken as just annoying. I am holding off on
upgrading until this resolves, but it doesn't seem to affect performance,
anyways. BTW, some folks say that the server address only gets appended to
the CID when a redirect or something comes about. Our experience here shows
that the IP always gets appended.

Yield-to-Maturity problem
Hello everybody,
I am not very advanced in my R skills so I really hope anybody of you can help me with this problem on which I have been working for hours.
I would like to write a function, which can guess the yield-to-maturity for any values: C, NV, r, s1, s2, and for a freely chosen tolerance (tol).
Additionaly, for freely chosen T; -> s1, s2, s3, ..., sT
I appreciate your help so much.

License question
Hello. I've a question about license. If I developed a
windows app running on wine, and this app utilizes a
microsoft font (e.g., tahoma), can I distribute my
windows app freely with the tahoma font without
license problems?
Thanks.

railish icons?
This is a little off topic but someone here knows, I''m sure... Does
anyone have a good site to find freely available standard icons for
things like add/edit/delete/save?
I''m looking for a set of clean and simple matching icons that capture
that Railsy-Web 2.0 feel...
Maybe icons aren''t Railsy...

Using R's LAPACK & Related files in Visual C++
I am a relative newcomer to both the R and C/C++
software worlds -- I'm taking a C Programming class
currently. I noticed the other day that the
C:\Program Files\R1_8_1\src\include\R_ext
directory on my WinXP box has the header files
BLAS.h
Lapack.h
Linpack.h
RLapack.h
I am interested in (perhaps) using one or more of
these
header files in a straight C program I'm working on in

does it make sense to run rsync over ftp (curlftpfs)?
Hi,
It seems to work but very slowly. I guess it's because rsync has to read the
complete file content
on the remote host, so does it make any sense at all to do it over FTP?
