Freezing Rails 1.2.6 & rubygems 0.95 Problems
...============ The next problem I had appears to be a result of another bug in the 1.2.6 version of framework.rake. Here I attempt to do the freeze and it fails: (ghtrp03) ~/suites/staging/cm % rake rails:freeze:gems --trace /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8 /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/i386-freebsd7 /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8 /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/i386-freebsd7 . (in /usr/home/dmack/suites/staging/cm) ** Invoke rails:freeze:gems (first_time) ** Execute rails:freeze:gems Freezing to the gems for Rails 1.2.6 rake aborted! uninitialized constant Gem::GemRunner /usr/lo...

AHCI and correct drive geometry?
Hey folks, So what's the word on AHCI and bios drive geometry? I'm having a real pain of a time trying to get some 750gb sata drives running on my FreeBSD7 box in AHCI mode. It doesn't seem to matter what disk geometry I suggest to sysinstall, something complains of an invalid disk upon booting it. Actually, in AHCI mode the bios screen doesn't report any information on drive geometry, so all bets appear to be off in giving sysinstall the...

Puppet hangs
Hello, we have one puppet server managing approx servers, all FreeBSD. The problem is that the puppet clients all hangs, one by one, eventually. They will run for anything between an hour up to a week. But eventually the all hang. We really like puppet and want to keep using it. But the way it is now is completely unusable. We''ve tried many versions, from 24.x, and now 2.6.1rc1. But

geom_raid5 + FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE + 5x500Gb (1.8T UFS volume) -- crashes :(
Hello, Arne. I try to build storage server for my home (I have a LOT of media files) with FreeBSD 7, 5xHDD (WD 500Gb) and geom_raid5 ("simple" version from perforce, beacuse http://home.tiscali.de/cmdr_faako/geom_raid5.tbz is not patched for FreeBSD7). Array & FS were created with default arguments: # graid5 label storage ad6 ad8 ad10 ad12 ad14 # newfs -O2 -U /dev/raid5/storage # mount /dev/raid5/storage /usr/home/storage I use additional (sixth) HDD for system, labeled ins tandard way. So, raid is used only for data, not for swap or b...

Heads up regarding using nfs with ocfs2
...d by a deadlock triggered during the READDIRPLUS RPC call available in NFS3. The bugzilla has the kernel stack of the deadlocked process. Disabling READDIRPLUS in the NFS client stopped the deadlocks. The user was then able to successfully run his regression on a mixture of Linux 2.6, FreeBSD6 and FreeBSD7 NFS clients. Now, even though the user originally reported that the problem did not reproduce with Linux NFS clients, it was probably only so because the Linux NFS client appears to be more judicious in its use of that RPC call than FreeBSD. For e.g., it does not use it when accessing large direct...

Strange error when running rails 2.3 on ruby 1.9.1 on FreeBSD
I am trying to run rails on FreeBSD 7.1. I''ve already installed Ruby 1.9.1 (from ports), apache, passenger (edge version from git), Rails 2.3 RC 1 (using gem --source like described on the weblog.rubyonrails.org). Everything installed smoothly and I am able to run ruby 1.9.1 programs. The problem is when I try to run rails. It fails with this error: [grzesiu@cratan ~/.gem/ruby/1.9/gems]$

packet loss on ixgbe using vlans and ipv6
Hi, I have a Dell T710 with 4 X 10G ethernet interfaces (2 X Dual port Intel 82599 cards). It is running FreeBSD RELENG_8 last updated on July 13. What I see is packet loss (0 - 40%) on IPv6 packets in vlans, when the machine is not the originator of the packets. Let me try to describe a little more. If a neigbouring machine ping6 it, there will be packet loss. If it act as a router for ipv6,
