Upgrade of CentOS 6.6 to 6.7
After the upgrade, I was encountering a "network unreachable" error.
This happens on kernel versions -> 2.6.32-573.1 .1-el6.x86_64 and
2.6.32-573.3.1-el6.x86_64. If I revert back to
2.6.32.504.30.3.el6.x86_64, the problem goes away. I've been searching
frantically without much luck. I have found references to the same error
on bugs.centos.org but no resolution as of yet. Has anyone else
encountered this? If so, what did you do to resolve it?
TIA,
John

v3.0.0, AD, 2k3 mumbles
...rver, which sent
me trying stuff out a bit. Meager results. The 3.0.0 I have (linked
with MIT krb5-1.2.8) refuses to verify incoming tickets:
[2003/10/28 16:27:36, 3] libads/kerberos_verify.c:ads_verify_ticket(317)
ads_verify_ticket: krb5_rd_req with auth failed (Bad encryption type)
Some frantic googling later it is clear that Windows -really- wants to
use kerberos keytype 23, a. k. a. "arcfour-hmac-md5", which that particular
version of MIT kerberos won't digest.
My doubt right now concerns a statement that this "arcfour-hmac-md5"
choice applies already in AD2...

Printer Rights Fail

how to fix it? The messages I'm getting are that I do not have enough

I am using a Windows 2000 Server PDC and a lot of Windows XP Pro, and
Windows 98/95 clients, of which the Win9x pcs and some XP clients have no
problems. Things are getting frantic here.
Here is a copy of a portion of my smb.conf file for the printers:

[LLVMdev] Buildbot exception get_builddir?
Hi,
I'm sure you have all seen this exception dozens of times, but I cannot
figure out what it means and what I am doing wrong. As per suggestion of
the list, I have put up a Mingw64 build slave and am frantically trying to
get it to work. But the Waterfall display kindly informs me that
"exception get_builddir" is the result of the attempt of building.
I know I am doing something wrong because I managed to make the virtualenv
sandbox in the build directory so I get the logged message that I...

Nope, it doesn't. You'll need to figure out what's going on with your
setup.
Also, I have 12GB of cache in ecc ram that rsync is not using.

This is an OS configuration/tuning problem, not an rsync problem.
Application-level code (such as rsync) does not directly deal with
NUMA features such as external RAM banks. Support for that sort of
thing would nor...

VoicePulse 1-800 numbers sound problem
...it may concern,
When dialing out an 800 number (888,866,877) through VoicePulse IAX
you'll get a choppy sound. This is not due to a problem on your Asterisk
or your line- the bad sound effect occurs in VoicePulse. (just spend
lots of time finding that out)

What exactly does rchkusr() do?
...in matlab.
It all worked fine, but the newest version of the Fortran code has a
call to rchkusr() and I now get a message that this is an undefined
symbol.
I am under the impression that rchkusr() just serves to let the
processor take care of interruption messages (typically, the user
frantically pressing Ctrl-C to stop running).
a) Is that right?
Another two questions are:
1 - If I choose to keep this "interruption checkpoint" in the
routine, what library is rchkusr() in and how do I link it when
compiling the Fortran object?
2 - True of False: If I choose to comme...

Display not refreshing when not moving mouse
...ting I must ask for help with another machine, which has 9600GT in it. I'm stuck on a very strange problem, where display doesn't refresh (everything stops) until I move the mouse. Terminal with vmstat 1 in it stops refreshing, video stops, glxgears stops, everything. If I drag mouse around frantically, screen refreshes normally.
The machines are quite similar, debian + compiz + xfce, so I went further, searching for some lowlevel or even hw cause for such behaviour. I found that on the problematic one the video card shares interrupts with the PCIe storage device, namely sata_sil24 and I als...

"virgin" mail accounts
...e, esp. the later.
Unless there are very RFC'ish and imperative reasons, I'd suggest
that dovecot creates all missing bits if possible no matter what the
storage method or pretends to have encountered an empty mbox file or
maildir cur/new respectively.
The rationale should be obvious, no frantic user calls about "My mail is
not working" when the answer is "Duh, that's because you never ever
received one yet". ;)

Balancing reads across mirror sets
...of ram, 8 750GB SATA disks. The disks are going to be paired off in 2 disk RAID0 sets each with a complete copy of the data. Essentially a manually replicated 4 way mirror set. The download manager would then use each set in a round robin fashion. This should substantially reduce the amount of frantic disk head dancing. The second item is to dedicate 50-75% of the ram to a ramdisk that would be the fetch path for the top 10 and new, hot downloads. This should again reduce the seeking on files that are being downloaded many times concurrently.
My question for this list is with ZFS is there a...

point, I'm getting frantic, and any help would be appreciated.
