Problems when using libFLAC to encode 24 bit content
...#39;t compressed (i.e. the FLAC is slightly larger than if it was writing to .WAV). The files play back fine, however, and 16 bit mode works great. We're using flac-1.1.2, built on win32 with MSVC6 w/ SP5 + VCPP, and NASM version 0.98.39 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Justin Frankel justin@blorp.com

ACLs on a directory on GPFS
Hello, I am using the vfs_gpfs samba module to map ACLs through samba. It works fine on files, but directory ACLs are ignored. Ex: getfacl /sb/share/myplace/ file: sb/share/myplace/ owner: root group: root user::rwx user:afrankel:rwx group::--- mask::rwx other::--- When I try to access this folder in Windows, I get permission denied. The same permissions on a files, I can open it / modify it without any problems. Here is my seetings : mmlsfs sb -D nfs4 File locking semantics in effect -k all ACL semantics in effect...

VoIP Users Conference Call Friday Nov 7 On Wideband Voice & Conferencing
This Friday's edition of the weekly VoIP Users Conference call is all about wideband audio (aka HD Voice) and conferencing. The guest for this call is David Frankel, CEO of ZipDX a commercial service that specializes in wideband conferencing. We expect an interesting call touching on many aspects of VoIP going beyond the traditional phone service, conference bridges, technical standards, device compatibility, etc. The conference call will be held as usual on...

G.722 between Eyebeam and a Polycom IP650
...uot;HD" mode and the audio quality is certainly very good. However, things are not so easy with Eyebeam and the IP650. When a call is placed between those two the audio stream from Eyebeam to the IP650 is never heard. The audio from the IP650 to Eyebeam is heard, and very good quality. David Frankel of ZipDX tells me that there is an error in RFC3551 such that G.722 RTP clock/timestamps are actually wrong. To quote the RFC directly. "Even though the actual sampling rate for G.722 audio is 16,000 Hz, the RTP clock rate for the G722 payload format is 8,000 Hz because that value was erroneo...

HD Voice conference Friday Nov 7th @ 12 Noon EST
Hi, This week's VoIP Users Conference will be tie the Talkshoe PSTN/SIP ULAW conference bridge to the ZipDX.com G.722-capable bridge. It may be a little crazy, but I'm looking forward to getting some explanations from David Frankel about the effects of wide band (or as Polycom calls it, "HD Voice") on conferencing. David can probably answer any technical questions you may have about WB audio and maybe share some of the tweaks they do to keep their service working efficiently. I know for example that they have done...

puppetd and self management
OS: FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE Puppet: 0.22.4 OS: CentOS 5.0 Puppet: 0.23.2 Is it currently not possible for puppetd to upgrade itself (0.22.4 -> 0.23.2)? I tried it, and when puppetd attempted to restart itself (using the init provider), it failed to start back up. Perhaps the init provider needs to close all file handles before executing the rc.d scripts? Additionally, I had puppetd update its

Adding support for .w64 (wave64) format
I use Sony (previously Sonic Foundry) Sound Forge, which allows me to save audio files in .w64 (Wave 64) format to get around the 2GB .wav file limitation. W64 was invented by Sonic Foundry, and is an open format as far as I know. The only programs I know about using the .w64 format at the moment are Sound Forge and Steinberg Nuendo, although there may be others out there. With increasing

[LLVMdev] problem running llvm-gcc from LLVM 4.2 binary download for Mingw
hi anton, found the problem -- the example in the getting started guide showed... % llvm-gcc hello.c -o hello which, of course, requires the standard 'ld' command -- which, it turns out, was the 'file not found' but then, this worked.... % llvm-gcc -O3 -emit-llvm hello.c -c -o hello.bc so i'm fine (for now).... when i get a little further down the road in investigating
