The Public Appology To Francis Cianfrocca
Dear Mongrel Users,
It appears that Francis still isn''t satisfied with my attempts to
apologize and he''s now asked me privately to retract my statements.
So, just to be sure he finally gets it:
I retract my statements that Francis and his friends are "shady" and
"desperate for cash". He is in no way a shady guy, having dealt with

Garbled screen after RAM Scrub on boot
Dear All
I am using Centos 7 with Xen 4.6 on a Dell Poweredge T430
When the machine boots, after the 'Scrubbing Free RAM' message, I get a screen filled with little white squares until the login prompt, so I cannot see what is happening as the machine boots. Also there is nothing on the screen when I reboot.
My /etc/default/grub is

PCI Passthrough not working
Further to my last post, I have removed the xen-pciback module from the Dom0 kernel, and reloaded it as
modprobe xen-pciback passthrough=1
I now have the PCI device on the DomU matching the Dom0 Device
usb usb1: SerialNumber: 0000:00:1a.0
instead of 0000:00:00.0
However I now have this error
ehci_hcd 0000:00:1a.0: Unlink after no-IRQ? Controller is probably using the wrong IRQ.

samba and writing through hard/symbolic links
hi everyone,
i feel like this problem should have come up a thousand times before but can't seem to find anything
about on google. i am no expert and i don't know much samba lingo but i hope you understand me.
If you open a symlink (or hard link for that matter) in windows (2000) over samba, say a blah.doc
file, which looks like

Strategy for fts and Replication
Hi Philon,
Thanks a lot for your thoughts!
Can I ask you if using Solr improved things for you? I have a mailbox
with 15 years of e-mail and searching things take a long time.

strange matching: maybe a multilanguage collation problem?
Hi,
We''re using Ferret in a slightly unorthodox way: We''re indexing a
large (>100,000) list of names of places all around the world. Mostly
we''re quite happy with it, and have been able to graft on our own
particular required functionality with just a little tweaking.
There''s one strange problem, though: We''ve got a place in Cyprus

Trying to use solr
Hi,
I am finally trying to use an fts engine with dovecot. My version is
2.3.7.2 under Ubuntu 20.04.
I installed solr 7.7.3 and then 8.6.0 to see if this was a
version-related error. I copied the schema from 7.7.0 as many people
said this was fine.
I get the following error when trying to reindex a user's mailbox:
doveadm(francis at francisaugusto.com): Error: fts_solr: Indexing failed:

Simple backup of maildir folder
Hi,
I want to do a simple backup of my maildir. I read here that maildirlock
is not to count on in the future and the recommended option was to use
doveadm backup. However, it seems that this requires to setup another
dovecot server.
My questions are:
- How much to I need to configure this new server? Do I need to setup
user by user, or even install postfix (that's where my users are

[PATCH] drm/bochs: Fix the ID mismatch error
When running RISC-V QEMU with the Bochs device attached via PCIe the
probe of the Bochs device fails with:
[drm:bochs_hw_init] *ERROR* ID mismatch
This was introduced by this commit:
7780eb9ce8 bochs: convert to drm_dev_register
To fix the error we ensure that pci_enable_device() is called before
bochs_load().
