Q: windbind, local groups and domain user membership?
Hi, I run a Fedora 2 box with Samba 3.0.10 as a domain member. The PDC is a Win server with AD. Running winbind, all domain users and groups are visible on the Samba box. To grant a special group of domain users access to parts of a samba share, I would like to - add a *local* group on the samba box (*not* in AD!) and - add some *domain* users to this new group. Unfortunately the trick of

...enied" Switching debug level to 4 I get the following samba log: [2006/10/06 09:15:34, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(799) termserv (12.12.12.12) couldn't find service print$. Why does termserv (Windows 2003) try to connect to "print$."? Any ideas? Btw: Connecting to the FQN of printhost as \\printhost.my.domainname\print$ works as expected ... Can't get Local DNS to Run [Was[ remove wins entries - samba 3]]
...t get local name resolution. Whether I have the IP address in John's example, or lserver1's address, I get no name resolution. Also, with only the domain parts (e.g., test.biz test.us) of the machine names present in the search line I can't restart smb--it just hangs. If I put an FQN in the search line (lserver1.test.biz), which is what dhclient-script does when it rewrites the file, then smb restarts OK. Also, John's example has several instantiations of named running; I have only one. Eric Hines -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [Samba] remove wins en...

user cannot access shares on new ad-dc
Hi, I just installed a new AD-DC as described in the wiki. Administrator can log on and see the two default-shares. Then I used ADUC from RSAT to create an OU and a user. User can see the shares (and can map them to a drive letter), but is denied to look inside. Same for another share which I added. Even when administrator grants permission to everybody. I read more wiki, which made me to add a
