Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
Rowland, thank You, but this removes only the NS record, but the faulty domain A records remain. How to deal with them, I don't know. They behave unlike the ordinary A records. Name=, Records=8, Children=0     SOA: serial=27, refresh=900, retry=600, expire=86400, minttl=3600, ns=blacktux.interbronz.local., email=hostmaster.interbronz.local. Samba + BIND9 DLZ. DNS dosen't resolve FQDN, only short hostname
...elete --help' Which will produce this: Usage: samba-tool dns delete <server> <zone> <name> <A|AAAA|PTR|CNAME|NS|MX|SRV|TXT> <data> Delete a DNS record For each type data contents are as follows: A ipv4_address_string AAAA ipv6_address_string PTR fqdn_string CNAME fqdn_string NS fqdn_string MX "fqdn_string preference" SRV "fqdn_string port priority weight" TXT "'string1' 'string2' ..." See if you can work out how to delete the unwanted 'A' records ? Rowland

Demoted dc not completely demoted, maybe?
I have manually removed all entries of the demoted DC with the exception of the SOA record. The DNS Manager (offered by RSAT) will not allow adjustment of the SOA record. I have begun searching for a linux solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Demoted dc not completely demoted, maybe?
Replaced as instructed and ran the command. It claimed "success", however (RSAT) DNS Manager still shows demoted DC as SOA record. BTW, this demoted DC is now shut off. Win10 and NT mode: netlogon script seems does not run anymore.
...computer What amused me was the section headed 'Not recommended', where they then went on to tell you to not set SPN's on non Windows fileservers and how to do it :D From reading the link it looks like 'samba-tool dns add <server> <zone> <name> <CNAME> fqdn_string' should be updated to allow adding SPN's Another thought I had was, perhaps 'smb ports = 139' should be set in an NT4-style PDC smb.conf Rowland

Win10 and NT mode: netlogon script seems does not run anymore.
[ Rowland, i know, i need to upgrade. ;-) ] Some month ago, with a relative big bunch of fix&tweaks, i was able to put a Win10 1903 client in join to a 'NT mode' Samba domain. Now i'm trying to do the same with a 1909 version; all seems to work as before, BUT netlogon script (defined in smb.conf with: logon script = startup.bat ) simply seems does not run. No log event in
