[Bug 2294] Detect renamed files and handle by renaming instead of delete/re-send
...find a basis file), or every time ? # Do these options impact destination performance, or do they benefit from already-done scans ? For example, will -yy scan all --link-dest dirs (disk IO intensive) even if perhaps it's not needed ? # About --detect-renamed, let's imagine foo/A has been foud in bar/. Will it be smart enough to directly search for foo/B in bar/, instead of restarting a whole lookup ? # These 2 options use found file as a basis file. Let's imagine the found file totally matches, and we are using --link-dest. Could we think about linking the file instead of copying i...

ERRSRV - ERRpadpw (Bad Password...
...ir -U tmpuser%tmppass I am getting the error message: Bad password - name/password pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid. As far as I can tell I have set everything up correctly. I have poured thru the docs as well as the archives of previous messages for any clues but have not foud any solutions that seem to fit. The Diagnose text indicates 4 possible sources of the problem: - you have shadow passords (or some other password system) but didn't compile in support for them in smbd - your "valid users" configuration is incorrect - you have a mixed case password...

Windows printer driver issues
...n this please? I've got it going so that all windows hosts can connect to printer share and pick up client drivers in most cases. Problems arise with speific drivers though. I've read up on this and it looks like the same problems as Samba bug 6727. - Some drivers are fine - I haven't foud a problem with CUPS, HP4700 Laser PCL6, Ricoh RPCS - All Ricoh PCL6 take ages to open and crash out every whichway - HP Universial PCL6 shows less options shared from Smaba than if shared from a Windows box Possibly I've made a strategic error and should have use CUPS drivers, but its in produ...

Nasty Samba Locking Problems
We recently committed to replacing our Netware server with a Samba server running on an old SPARC box (using RedHat 6.0). This seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I'm wondering... We have two labs of PCs (each of 16 machines, all running Windows 95) and we use PC-Rdist to ensure that the hard disk images on the PCs are kept fairly clean and up-to-date. The master disk images are

Macintosh rsync: Inconsistent Behaviour: Hints Appreciated
I have a problem with rsync on macintosh copying files that have not been updated. Despite careful reading of the archives, I can't find an explanation (or a fix), but I strongly suspect I'm just missing something that an expert will recognise instantly... Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm running a nightly backup of my photo/home video directory from a partition
