Time Series - Long Memory Estimation
...had used an estimation introduced by P.M. Robinson (related paper: "Log-Periodogram regression of time series with long range dependence", 1995, The Annals of Statistics, Vol. 23, p. 1048 - 1072) The estimator is similar to GPH and Sperio based on the periodogram. S-PLUS code in R
.... But when I do k <- optimize(lw, x, im=2, interval=c(0, 0.5)) I always get the same result no matter the (simulated) data in x! The parameter of interest to be minimized is "d". Does anyone know how to edit the function "optimize" so it can work properly? Thanks again. Fotis -- fp [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Gain control
How are people doing gain control, out of curiosity? I know boxes exist (anyone have names and mfrs?) that ride the gain for big radio stations, ensuring that there is no distortion and raising the volume of songs recorded at a lower volume. I'd probably buy one if I knew what to buy. ------ Dave Hayes - Consultant - Altadena CA, USA - dave@jetcafe.org Now Playing at:
