Revisiting mime-types and file extensions
Hi,
I'm in the process of adding support for Markdown to a minimal CMS in
Rails, [Railfrog][railfrog], which uses mime types to select appropriate
processing. I have had a look through the archives but have not been
able to see that a consensus has emerged as to what such a mime type for
Markdown should look like. My reading of the RFCs suggests that it
should be within the "text/*"

Markdown Extra Spec: Parsing Section
...if the grammar is powerful enough to
express them.
I'm not saying too much here; elaborate explanations are better in the
spec than in this volatile email. If you're interested, take a look
and tell me what you think:

Extra markdown suggestions
Hello List,
I have recently started using Michel Fortin's PHP "Markdown Extra"
implementation to programmatically transform my markdown text files into
HTML. Firstly I'd like to say markdown is very cool -- thanks to everyone
involved :)
I'd also like to suggest two additions to markdown:
1) I very often use /this/ markdown to...

* Fix for a problem introduced in 1.0.1g where posting comments in
WordPress would trigger PHP warnings and cause some markup to be
incorrectly filtered by the kses filter in WordPress.

* Added Extra-specific code to support `no_markup`.

All combinations possible in a mutliple regression
...m. I want to compare all possible
combinations of the 4 independent variables, including singles, pairs and
triples.
I was thinking of using the AIC test to compare all models and pick the best
one.
The model looks like this :
lm(Y ~ X1 + X2 + X3 + X4)
Thanks for your help
Cheers

Backtick Hickup
I'm using Michel Fortin's MDTest cases to rewrite my html2text.php script.
Just now I stumbled upon this bug (in PHP Markdown at least):
# Input:
Backtick: ``\```
# Output:
<p>Backtick: `````</p>
# Should-Be Output:
<p>Backtick: <code>`</code></p>

...arkdown.pl 1.0.1 it takes 71 seconds. Beside
the obvious speed difference between PHP Markdown and Markdown.pl
(probably due to what I mentioned above), this test shows that
neither PHP Markdown or Markdown.pl scale well for big documents.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Puppet syntax check for Komodo Edit
...ed here:
http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/1/wiki/Editor_Tips
as a Puppet-supporting one, but I wasn''t able to find a
module/plugin/whatever that makes it like Puppet DSL syntax.
Anyone here using Komodo Edit? Do you have suggestions for better
alternatives?
Thanks

PHP Markdown Extra fork for MathJax
My fork of Michel Fortin's PHP Markdown Extra has been updated to
include support for MathJax as well as jsMath. Both of these are
JavaScript libraries for using LaTeX syntax, e.g., \(E = mc^2\), to
include high quality, scalable equations (not just bitmapped images of
equations) in your HTML pages.

spelling with <g>?
Hello,
What should the following input produce?
Dutch has shifted Germanic g to the velar fricatives [?] and [x], but
retained the spelling with <g> and thus at least a visual similarity
to German; English and Frisian have shifted g to [j] before palatal
vowels
The Dingus says:

Ditching support for older versions of PHP will simplify the maintenance work and will enable usage of newer PHP constructs in the code. Getting rid of the Wordpress plugin part will let me worry about things which are more related to the parser side of things.

PHP 5 port of Markdown, plugin-based
Hi,
First of all, thanks to John Gruber for the fantastic Markdown syntax
and parse/render system. Also, thanks to Michel Fortin for his PHP 4
version of Markdown.
Based on those two works, I have completed a **plugin-aware** PHP 5
version of Markdown. You can see it in Subversion here:

New parser-based Markdown implementation for Java
Markdowners,
just a short heads-up to a newly released Markdown implementation:
"pegdown" (http://github.com/sirthias/pegdown) implements a Java Markdown-to-HTML processor based on a PEG parser with the grammar being based on John MacFarlanes C implementation "peg-markdown".
pegdown uses "parboiled" (http://www.parboiled.org) for the actual parsing work and, as
