RJS & IE Woes

I don't need to use NT4 protocols. I'm just in need of not having Samba4 write in all of its documentation that forklift replacing your central authentication server is the only way to move forward. Wasn't the design goal to make it compatible in a Unix environment in the first place? How am I holding back Samba? I have a central LDAP server I have no control over but yet Samba4 requires me to replace it. I can...

Forklift a 2000 phone PBX
I'm staring at an RFP--this company wants to replace a 2000 position PBX (at eight locations) with a new system. Their mindset is Nortel/Avaya because they talk about 28-button digital sets. The do specify a few IP phones for just one location, so they are aware of VoIP. I'm going to bid on this--there's nothing to lose except the time it takes to write the proposal. I'll

gluster for home directories?
...39;t need to scale out due to the capacity reasons, the async > NFS server will always outperform GlusterFS The current solution is 8 years old and is reaching its end of life. The reason we are also looking into gluster is that we like that it uses standard components and that we can prevent forklift upgrades every 5,6,7 years by replacing a few bricks each year. Next to providing storage for home directories we would like to also use the hosts to run VM's in a hyperconverged setup (with their storage as an additional gluster volume on those bricks). If I need to present the plan as replacing the entire system all at once, that's fine, but they're a lot more likely to sign off if we can do it as a phase-out instead of a forklift upgrade. If you are moving from 1.x to 2.x, I think you should make some trials first, and preferably move the user one at a time, blocking access to old server/new server during move. It is very forklift upgrade, much danger. Aki

Evolution prompted to accept the cert; which I did. Thunderbird used to prompt and allow acceptance; it no longer does... well sorta does. Upgrade Samba versions on the domain
We're adding a new datacenter and am taking the opportunity to upgrade Samba version to 4.11. We have three AD servers currently on version 4.7.9.? I plan to add a new AD DC, version 4.11, by joining it to the domain. Can the domain function in production with three DCs on 4.7.9, and a new one running 4.11 ? Thanks,-Mike

upgrade dhcpd failover set from centos 5.x ->7.x
Is there a less drastic way to upgrade a pair of dhcpd servers on Centos 5.x than forklifting the old boxes out and hoping the replacements work?. Has anyone been through this with a clever solution - like compiling a new dhcpd on the old boxes for an easy rollback? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesel...

Asterisk as Voicemail Server for Option 61c?
Looks like we will be forced to make a move on our voicemail system as Nortel has declared Meridian Mail an end of life product. Frustrating thing is that it would seem their only reason for it is so they can force our hand to move to Call Pilot. Is there any documentation and feedback out there of how people have used Asterisk as a voicemail system for a legacy PBX? We've got about
