How do you run swat in forground mode?
Is there any way to run swat from the command line instead of starting it
from inetd? I'm trying to add some features (mostly, I want to make a
backup of the smb.conf file before commiting a new one) and I want to run
swat from inside of gdb. Is there a way to start swat in the foreground and
have it listen on port 901?
Thanks in advance,

Seperating Forground from Background
One thing I have noticed when encoding VCDs is that often videos with
complex backgrounds don't compress nearly as well as those with simple
ones. Part of the problem is that TV cameras seam to have the focus so
that the entire image is clear rather than focusing on the foreground (and
blurring the backgrounds). The result is that a good number of bits are
wasted trying to perfectly

Summary: [BUG] object allocation during garbage collection phase
Initial Comment:
Applications grash when I send the application window to background and forground again several times while a dialog window was opened and closed. Can be seen at the minimal.rb sample:

make the window biggewr, open "About"dialog, close it, send the applation window to the backgroung - so that it is hidden by an other window - and take i...

Question regarding reading arrayvision files in limma
...Block Row Column ID Name
1 1 1 1 my_ID my_Description
2 1 1 2 my_ID my_Description
3 1 1 3 my_ID my_Description
4 1 1 4 my_ID my_Description
5 1 1 5 my_ID my_Description
7195 more rows ...
Thus, its not reading the data in the 2 forground and background channels,
just the column indices.
Could you please suggest what I am doing wrong?
Thank you for your time!

The central box (asterisk.thorcom.net) was running Asterisk 1.4.13 in

Questions:
1. what does "Expecting causecode to be single byte but was 2" mean?
2. what does "Invalid BYTE" mean in this context?
3. why/how...

excel 97 'splash screen' error is back
All,
The system is FC2 with wine 20050211 installed. The win environment is a
native win98 partition. A boot of the native partition runs excel 97 w/o
issue. Attempts to run excel under wine result in the excel splash
screen being locked in the forground window and no access to exel. The
only way out is to kill all wine pids. As per the notes dcom98.exe is
successfully installed. (as a note there is no mscreate.dir error. )
Does anyone know the dll associated with the splash screen? It may be
necessary to use native dlls to work around this....

colored shading lines
Hi all,
it there any possibility to draw colored shading lines of a polygon plot?
E.g.
plot(polygon_object,col="red",density=10,angle=45)
produces only black shading lines within the polygon.
With many thanks for any hint

NFS options in fstab
Hi All,
I've a quick question I'm hoping someone can help out on; One of our NFS
servers has an intermittent hard lock problem under high load. This is a
CentOS 5.7 box. It's due for replacement sometime next year. However...
The issue is when this box dies the boxes that mount the NFS exports
have trouble with the mount and some processes time out casing the
system mounting the file
