troubles with R
Dear adviser, I am fond of R, and enjoy it very much. But... I have great problems. I have saved the data before quitting but when I return to the R session I can not find my saved Data again. It is said: "Data which is saved will be available in future R sessions". ... is not TRUE. I work with iMAC (System Version:Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a); Kernel Version: Darwin 9.8.0) There

vmail cgi script
Hi all, I'm in the process of building a * box for home and ran across the vmail.cgi script. It installs suid root in order to allow access to the voice mail boxes. I've never been fond of suid root and was looking for a better method. I've patched my installation to make everything in the vm hierarchy (/var/ spool/asterisk/voicemail/*) setgid www to match the group of my

[LLVMdev] Opinions Wanted: New asm Comments
I have a patch I'd like to commit that adds commentary to asm files about which TableGen pattern generated a particular instruction. The output looks like this: cvtpd2ps %xmm0, %xmm0 # source.c:39 # Src: (intrinsic_wo_chain:v4f32 927:iPTR, VR128:v2f64:$src) # Dst: (Int_CVTPD2PSrr:v4f32 VR128:v2f64:$src)

unix-type commandline keystrokes in the windows RGUI
Hi all, I am generally quite fond of the unix commandline keystrokes (e.g. searching back in your history with [CTRL]-R, and cutting/pasting with [CTRL]-K/Y) which work in the R commandline in *nix. Does anyone know if there's any way to get similar functionality in the Windows RGUI? I know that as of now, [CTRL]-A and -E do the same as unix (beginning and end of line) and [CTRL]-Y does a

Reconstruct a dataset
Dear all, I have a dataset that looks like this: inividual var1 var2 ? 1 1 1 ? 2 1 2 ? 3 2 1 ? 4 2 2 ? ? ? ? ? I will random sample 2 individuals from this dataset based on a set of random numbers, e.g., rn1 <- c(0, 0, 1, 1), rn2 <- c(0, 0, 2, 0), rn3 <- c(1, 0, 0, 1), rn4 <-

someone wake me up...
and tell me that it is possible to make icecast broadcast titles or id3 tags. I refuse to believe that you all can talk so fondly of a program that gives you the ability to make a radiostation but not tell its listeners what is on the air.. That is just too weird.. So what do YOU do to tell people what they are listening to? Arvid www.playrec.dk -for all kinds of good music ICQ# 724069 --- >8 ---- List archives: http:...

the difference between temp and .temp
Hi everyone - This came up within the last day -- Jim's response to Deepankar is pasted below. There are probably lots of reasons, but what is the advantage to using .temp over, say, temp? I often find myself writing temporary objects -- should I use the . preface? What would be the advantages to doing so? Thanks in advance for what will surely be a collection of illuminating responses.

\include-mechanism in Sweave?
Dear HelpeRs, I'm very fond of Sweave and I use it as often as possible. It'a a pity I can't use it for larger projects or can I? For instance suppose I have three files file1.rnw, file2.rnw and file3.rnw with Sweave code. Working on file2.rnw I whould like to exclude file1.rnw and file3.rnw temporarily and joining all of them later. This amounts to a mechanism similar to using

Radrails - Quick (if misplaced?) question...
My apologies if this is the wrong place for this but...it should be really simple. When I use a Generator in Radrails, nothing happens. I (believe) I have properly set the path to Ruby and still nothing. And, it doesn''t seem there is an error log to further diagnose what is happening. I am using 0.5.3 on Windows. Am I missing something obvious? As a P.S., is anyone particularly fond of

bug(?) in R FAQ - Should I run R from within Emacs? (PR#1772)
I have a small request re. R FAQ Frequently Asked Questions on R Version 1.5-10, 2002-06-13 ISBN 3-901167-51-X Kurt Hornik In section 6.2 Should I run R from within Emacs? The faq says "Yes, definitely." This led me to install emacs, and to install ess. However, I use a windows environment (mswindows2000) and I had some difficulty installing, linking and launching these

Stable Production Environment on Unix/Linux
Hello, I wonder what would be the most stable production runtime environment for a rails application on Unix/Linux. I am not very fond of FastCGI indeed, since it''s not seen any further developement lately. What are your experiences e.g. with the mongrel server? Has anybody used it for production? What are the alternatives? May be some fine lad could just point me to web site

Kalman Filter
Hi My name is Vladimir Samaj. I am a student of Univerzity of Zilina. I am trying to implement Kalman Filter into my school work. I have some problems with understanding of R version of Kalman Filter in package stats( functions KalmanLike, KalmanRun, KalmanSmooth,KalmanForecast). 1) Can you tell me how are you seting the initial values of state vector in Kalman Filter? Are you using some method?
