Would this be considered a packaging bug?
...; than Fedora. > > So, if built on Fedora, those patches are not installed. Why would that > be a problem? > > Ouch, looking through the spec file it appears that it doesn't use the normal %patch mechanism to apply patches. Looks like a change in RPM itself that I am not very fond of. It appears to use a git command to apply patches from some kind of a patch macro, and apparently with sources too. It's just my opinion but I am becoming less and less fond of RPM - just like I became less and less fond of GNOME which I use to really love. Guess I now know how dad felt...

troubles with R
Dear adviser, I am fond of R, and enjoy it very much. But... I have great problems. I have saved the data before quitting but when I return to the R session I can not find my saved Data again. It is said: "Data which is saved will be available in future R sessions". ... is not TRUE. I work with iMAC (Syste...

vmail cgi script
Hi all, I'm in the process of building a * box for home and ran across the vmail.cgi script. It installs suid root in order to allow access to the voice mail boxes. I've never been fond of suid root and was looking for a better method. I've patched my installation to make everything in the vm hierarchy (/var/ spool/asterisk/voicemail/*) setgid www to match the group of my webserver. The voicemail.c files also contains minor modifications. Is this something that anyone els...

[LLVMdev] Opinions Wanted: New asm Comments
...r control of a separate -asm-pattern flag. All other asm commentary is controlled by -asm-verbose. Is a new flag appropriate for this or should I just put it under -asm-verbose with everything else? If we want a new flag, does anyone have a spelling they'd recommend? I'm not particularly fond of -asm-pattern but it was the best concise name my uncreative brain could conjur up. -Dave

unix-type commandline keystrokes in the windows RGUI
Hi all, I am generally quite fond of the unix commandline keystrokes (e.g. searching back in your history with [CTRL]-R, and cutting/pasting with [CTRL]-K/Y) which work in the R commandline in *nix. Does anyone know if there's any way to get similar functionality in the Windows RGUI? I know that as of now, [CTRL]-A and -E do...

Reconstruct a dataset
...a dataset that looks like this: id var1.1 var1.2 var2.1 var2.2 ? 1 2 2 1 2 ? 2 2 2 1 1 ? 3 1 2 1 2 ? 4 1 2 2 1 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Please ignore the bold and italic fond styles, I just want to make my problem clear. Can anyone please help how to get this done? Your help would be greatly appreciated. someone wake me up...
and tell me that it is possible to make icecast broadcast titles or id3 tags. I refuse to believe that you all can talk so fondly of a program that gives you the ability to make a radiostation but not tell its listeners what is on the air.. That is just too weird.. So what do YOU do to tell people what they are listening to? Arvid www.playrec.dk -for all kinds of good music ICQ# 724069 --- >8 ---- List archives: htt...

the difference between temp and .temp
Hi everyone - This came up within the last day -- Jim's response to Deepankar is pasted below. There are probably lots of reasons, but what is the advantage to using .temp over, say, temp? I often find myself writing temporary objects -- should I use the . preface? What would be the advantages to doing so? Thanks in advance for what will surely be a collection of illuminating responses.

\include-mechanism in Sweave?
Dear HelpeRs, I'm very fond of Sweave and I use it as often as possible. It'a a pity I can't use it for larger projects or can I? For instance suppose I have three files file1.rnw, file2.rnw and file3.rnw with Sweave code. Working on file2.rnw I whould like to exclude file1.rnw and file3.rnw temporarily and joining...

I'll make a note of that. > > >> - A null pointer is associated with no addresses. >> > > A null pointer in address space 0. Radrails - Quick (if misplaced?) question...
...e a Generator in Radrails, nothing happens. I (believe) I have properly set the path to Ruby and still nothing. And, it doesn''t seem there is an error log to further diagnose what is happening. I am using 0.5.3 on Windows. Am I missing something obvious? As a P.S., is anyone particularly fond of any other Rails development environments? If so, what are the benefits or disadvantages relative to Radrails. Thanks, -Mark

bug(?) in R FAQ - Should I run R from within Emacs? (PR#1772)
...I would prefer if the faq could be changed to say: "This is optional." And perhaps some comment could be made about platforms. I found the documentation for emacs and ess to be a bit of a hair-pulling exercise. NOT one of the "plug and play" applications that MS windows is so fond of! By the way, I like the r gui very much. I used splus for some time as a PhD student, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that my scripts run in r!! I intend to use r from now onwards, and to encourage my colleagues to use it too. Kind regards, Tim Harrold CSIRO Atmospheric Research 107 S...

Stable Production Environment on Unix/Linux
Hello, I wonder what would be the most stable production runtime environment for a rails application on Unix/Linux. I am not very fond of FastCGI indeed, since it''s not seen any further developement lately. What are your experiences e.g. with the mongrel server? Has anybody used it for production? What are the alternatives? May be some fine lad could just point me to web site dealing with real live production exampl...

My xen testsystem runs with Xen 3.1.0_15042 on an 64bit (Athlon64) opensuse 10.3 with xen-kernel 2.6.22.17. On the same machine i tested your pv-drivers on a XP Pro SP2 VM. Kalman Filter
...to my school work. I have some problems with understanding of R version of Kalman Filter in package stats( functions KalmanLike, KalmanRun, KalmanSmooth,KalmanForecast). 1) Can you tell me how are you seting the initial values of state vector in Kalman Filter? Are you using some method? 2) I have fond function StructTS in stats package. I dont understand, how exactly, are you computing(what method are you using) fitted values which are the output of this function( $fitted ) . In description od this function is that it fit a structural model for a time series by maximum likehood. Does it means, t...
