[LLVMdev] LiveInterval Splitting & SubRegisters
...re about the case where an EXTRACT_SUBREG targeting two virtual registers is coalesced. How does the LiveInterval information change? Since the coalescer always coalesces to the superregister, I'm guesing that LiveIntervals will have an (extended) interval for the superregister and NO interval foir the subregister after coalescing is done (since the subregister was coalesced away). Then when the AsmPrinter comes along, it sees the subregister set in the MachineOperand and does the Right Thing(tm) even though the MachineOperand register is in fact the superregister. Correct? Any other stuff...

no one cares about i18n (was [OT]: Asking questions on this list)
Do most others in the community agree with this statement? It seems to me that i18n is: 1. Actually important to many people 2. Not really the difficult to implement in concept 3. Something that people like to point out about Rails to say it''s not ready foir "Enterprise" It seems to be that a big part of Rails is encouraging people to do things the "Right Way", yet none of the Rails books/articles I have read (AWDwR, Rails Recipes, etc.) even discuss how to do i18n, let alone encourage it. Why? On 5/2/06, James Ludlow <jameslud...

question re multiple backends and the 'guest' backend
An inherited system has the following configuration: passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://10.10.10.10 smbpasswd guest What is the purpose of using multiple backends? The smb.conf man page simply states that each backend will be searched in turn but why would one ever use such a setup? Secondly, the man page does not mention the 'guest' backend. To me such a backend implies that an

Printing OK on 98, "Access denied" on XP Pro
I have a very simple setup on a Solaris 8 server, running Samba 3.0.1 (see smb.conf below). A desktop PC running Windows 98 (SE?) happily connects to and prints to my one shared printer, but an XP Pro laptop takes a loooong time to install the local driver and then just says "Access denied, unable to connect". I already told it to use a client driver and disabled spoolss. Here's

[LLVMdev] LiveInterval Splitting & SubRegisters
Evan, Can you explain the basic mechanics of the live interval splitting code? Is it all in LiveIntervalAnalysis.cpp under addIntervalsForSpills and child routines? What is it trying to do? Also, in the ancient subregister coalescing code, there used to be an update of the SSARegMap to point subregisters to the superregister they were coalesced to (IIRC). That has since gone away. I used to
