nVidia and Starcraft
...to run Starcraft at 8-bit depth, else I get strange mirroring effects, showing that it's only writing 8-bit information on a 32-bit screen. With 0.9-767... well, that just crashes flat on its face. I'm frustrated! I'm pissed! These nVidia drivers are BROKEN! Half-Life sound problem
Hi, finally got HL to run at 1024 in opengl. But there are some things which i'm not happy about: 1) Sound lags about 1 sec after the game, EAX doesn't work. 2) Some fonts don't get found (which messes up the scoreboard). I'm running Mandrake7.2 with kernel 2.4.2 and XFree 4.0.1 and nvidia's 0.9.6 drivers. Some things i've found out so far: Using the nvidia agp driver

Starcraft crashes
I have used Starcraft under wine for a long time, and I have just learned to put up with random crashes. The only version of wine I have gotten to work is ancient (991212)! I have tried more recent versions, but I haven't been able to get them running at all. Is there a wine that doesn't crash randomly running starcraft? What wine do you use for starcraft? (BTW, there seems to be a

More Starcraft IPX issues
Wine is : 20010216 Distro is : RH7 w/ all the latest patches Starcraft works beautifully (but only as root does DGA work :o( ), /except/: Running network games (which requires IPX) work perfectly, but only on LAN, i.e., on a setup w/ eth0 and lo, a network game will only work if ipx_interface add -p eth0 802.3 0x12345678 Under these conditions I can play, no problem. But, this doesn't

Battle.net problems
I have Starcraft working and would like to know if it is possible to use the Battle.net multiplay interface? I am using fsgs (client/server) to redirect battle.net to my own machine. This appears to work nicely (others can connect, and my local starcraft connects as well). There are some problems with the graphics, though. There are no fonts at all, making it very difficult to see what

Update: AOL and WINE
...t as well as 5.0, if not better. I'd like to see some input from other people trying to reproduce these results, and I'll perhaps start producing an AOL on WINE FAQ, and a HOW-TO to help others once I get some better documentation and support available for people. A question about Starcraft IPX
I don't know if I should be posting this here, and if this newsgroup is the incorrect one, could someone point me in the right direction? Does (or can) Wine use SMP?
...ups when running only a single processor as opposed to the two I had before. (except for, of course the ubiquitous make) So... basicly it all boils down to: you're generally right in your thinking, and I hope you luck in finding multi-threaded windows programs to use. Wine and WinNT wine.conf dumb question
Hi, I've just installed Wine 20010305 on a box with SuSE 7.1 (kernel 2.4.2) and Win NT4.0. I previously ran wine with no problems under SuSE 7.0. Now when I try to start wine I get the error: Invalid path 'C:\winnt' for windows directory: does not exist. This is using the same wine.conf file as before. Here are the relevant lines from the wine.conf file: [Drive C]

Half-Life + Wine (and other programs I suppose...) Recommendation!!!
Ive tried very hard to get Half-Life to run on my Linux box...and I have finally managed to get it to work...the problem (the BIG problem) was that I was trying to use an installed version of windows as the basis of wine. It worked fine with most programs...but not Half-Life and some other games... My recommendation is that you dont use a preinstalled version of windows as the basis of a wine
