Digital Radio Monial www.drm.org
Salve,
Imagine ogg vorbis is used to produce radio with free software. A
journalist would produce a report end send it with 24kBit/s out from
a cricis place somewhere in the world.
DRM is going to use MP4 - so his report has to be reconverted with
loosing quality :-(
Can you imagine to have an free codec someday that would work in
embedded radio-reciver like MP4?
If yes, should DRM not be open

cdrw firmware update
Hello,
I need to do a firmware update for my cdrw and because of a missing linux
program for doing that I thought of using wine for trying it.
I call the programm FlashTool.exe and no error messages occur. (The
surface really looks great!) The programm detects correctly the flashable
cdrw-drive even with ide-scsi and the non-flashable cdrom. But then when I
click on "continue" nothing happens, the programm is still "usable", that
means I can quit it without any error-message but the firmware update is of
course not done.
Now two questions:
Is the idea of u...

Problems with multiboot DVD and isolinux > 3.07
Hi,
some time ago I tried to boot an isolinux boot loader from another one
to be able to boot e.g. a Knoppix CD with its original boot loader and
menus from a "main" isolinux on a multiboot DVD.
This works for isolinux <= 3.07 now!
However, newer isolinux boot loaders have some problems and the isolinux
(e.g. of the Knoppix CD) loaded from the multiboot DVD's main isolinux

Malicious Linux modules
As halflife demonstrated in Phrack 50 with his linspy project, it is trivial
to patch any system call under Linux from within a module. This means that
once your system has been compromised at the root level, it is possible for
an intruder to hide completely _without_ modifying any binaries or leaving
any visible backdoors behind. Because such tools are likely to be in use
within the hacker

NUT-Server will not start at boot with Cyberpower PR1500
Hi Charles,
Thanks for your response. No, I only put 192.168.1.64 as an extra option as I want to allow Slave access from another computer. Otherwise, access will normally only be from localhost. There is only one network interface on this machine.
I will try it out with "LISTEN 0.0.0.0 3493" and see what happens. I must confess I usually run without a firewall as I'm only running a

llvm-objcopy proposal
LLVM already implements its own version of almost all of binutils. The
exceptions to this rule are objcopy and strip. This is a proposal to
implement
an llvm version of objcopy/strip to complete llvm’s binutils.
Several projects only use gnu binutils because of objcopy/strip. LLVM itself
uses objcopy in fact. Chromium and Fuchsia currently use objcopy as well.
