Trouble with the memory allocation
Dear R-users, I am currently facing what appears to be a strange thing (at least to my humble understanding). If I understood correctly, starting with the version 1.2.3, R memory allocation can be done dynamically, and there is no need to fiddle with the --nsize and --vsize parameter any longer... So far this everything seemed to go this way (I saw the size of my processes growing when I was

Multiple graph sheets
In Splus the code test.lm <- lm(y ~ x, data = test.data) plot(test.lm) generates a graphics window that contains multiple graph sheets that one may choose from via the "page" tabs at the bottom of the window. Is there a way to do this sort of thing in R? As another example, I have some repeated measures data with continuous outcomes and have been working with the nlme library in

...;t recall any post about replacing the scheduler. If there was I missed it. That's easy to do on a list with hundreds of messages a day. It would be helpful to have a roadmap page on the LLVM web site to call attention to decisions like this. Such a page could be updated as timelines become firmer. > The actual planning coincided nicely with your RFC, providing a good > opportunity to air it on llvm-dev. I'm not sure what you mean by "planning." Do you mean design work? I think that's quite different from a roadmap with timelines. It's really the former that...

AreskiCC Install Problems
I have followed the Idiots' guide for installation, but still could not make it work. When I try to login at the web page coming from /var/www/html/areski , I get the following errors: Can some body give me some hints where and what to check for this error?. I am looking for info on the changes we have to make for 1) the database name 2) user name 3) password 4)connection name (server

[LLVMdev] Scheduler Roadmap
Hi everyone, As I've mentioned before we are doing some work on the LLVM scheduler to improve it. Specifically, we are working to get loads and stores to move past each other when possible. When I asked about enhancing scheduler heuristics a month or so ago, I got a response about a MachineInstr scheduler and that that was the way of the LLVM future. Is that so? Is the ScheduleDAG going

state of the rsync nation? (revisited 6/2003 from 11/2000)
...get files. However, commands will be pipelined, network-independent binary, and using only a single tcp connection. In general we hope that there will be less special cases, and probably that there will be less application-level intelligence in the server and more in the client. This should be a firmer foundation for building things such as * implementations in different languages/platforms (Java, Win32 native, INTERCAL, ...) * interactive rsync (like ftp(1)) * two-way rsync (controlled by the client, which could be automatic or even have a GUI.) * rsync as a transport for things su...

Active Record: Prepared Statements?
Hello all, my first project is on it''s way, and I am loving it! But, and that''s a big BUT: Active Record does not use prepared statements! How is that? Everybody is bragging about performance and the most obvious tuning measure is missing. Ok, I don''t know, if MySQL can even do them as I am using Postgres, but still. I started looking at the code and it is not

Spec''ing via features
As I work with Rails TestUnit tests I am reconsidering how to use cucumber features. It seems to me that it might be best to have a coherent view of how to arrange my test suites before I get much further into this. Now, so far I have considered three possibilities: 1. Use features exclusively. Create a feature file for each model, one for each controller and possibly an additional one for
