Is there hardware to remote control
...tamp series. This allows you to run a program on this little computer device (>100.00) that was "made" for I/O control. It can do all kinds of things pseudo autonomously and feed back the info to the PC. d) X10 have several interfaces for PC's. I like a little one called the "Firecracker" interface. It uses an RS232C line and can control devices by sending radio signals from it to a reciever module that is plugged into a wall socket. It then embeds the cammands you sent it into the electrical circuits in your home. Another module then plugs into the wall somewhere and you pl...

[RFC 00/13] virtio-iommu on non-devicetree platforms
...fraid this could increase fragmentation as guests would need to implement or modify their support for all of DMAR, IVRS and IORT. If we end up doing VIOT, I suggest limiting it to IORT. (2) In addition, there are some concerns about having virtio depend on ACPI or DT. Some hypervisors (Firecracker, QEMU microvm, kvmtool x86 [1]) don't currently implement those methods. It was suggested to embed the topology description into the device. It can work, as demonstrated at the end of this RFC, with the following limitations: - The topology description must be read befor...

Google Summer of Code - Redfish API implementation
...t from ChiangMai University, Thailand. Currently, I am doing a research internship at nara institute of science and technology, Japan. I have been working on a research that is related to the performance and security characteristics of various container technologies like Linux containers, gVisor , firecracker, kanta etc. It is supposed to be finished by the middle of next April. I am hoping to get involved with libvirt opensource project before I start my master program in October. I am interested in the Redfish API implementation project suggested by Cédric Bosdonnat. It's a nice modern RESTFUL...

Hackers on my Web server
I have discovered that a gamer has hacked into my web server through a backdoor left open by my predecessor. I have closed the door, but when I try to delete the folders left behind I receive "Access Denied", or when I try to take ownership I receive "Unable to Find File...". I have removed most of the files to obtain enough space to continue operations but would like to remove

This is a whole new area for me to play and get lots >of sleepless nights ;) X10 control (Send data control signals over house wiring) I use an X10 Firecracker (CM17A) interface http://www.smarthome.com/1141.html which is a little radio transmitter the size of a DB9 shell and plugs into a serial port. The software that comes with it is for Windows and is very lame. However, there is a unix tool called bottlerocket which is a command line utility http://...

Back-up connection
Some weeks ago, I asked if anyone had set up a backup scheme for a remote server. By backup here, I mean an alternative arrangement that can be called upon if eg the DSL connection to the remote machine fails. I received one interesting reply: ====================== At home, besides my fixed lines, I have two gsm-modems, one low-speed (that came free of charge with one of my fixed lines), the

ubuntu 12.04 install issues
Hello: I have a new install of Ubuntu 12.04. I have tried to install R via source, apt-get, and the deb packages from a cran mirror. Each of these had issues. I followed the secure apt key install. The apt-get and deb installs each have the same error. So, let's ignore the source install for now. This is the error: >> sudo dpkg -i r-base-core_2.15.1-1precise2_i386.deb (Reading
