[PATCH 1/3] virtio: find_vqs/del_vqs virtio operations
This replaces find_vq/del_vq with find_vqs/del_vqs virtio operations, and updates all drivers. This is needed for MSI support, because MSI needs to know the total number of vectors upfront. Signed-off-by: Michael S. Tsirkin <mst at redhat.com> --- drivers/block/virtio_blk.c | 11 +++--- drivers/char/hw_random/virtio-rng.c...

find_vqs operation starting at arbitrary index
Hello, The recent find_vqs operation doesn't allow for a vq to be found at an arbitrary location; it's meant to be called once at startup to find all possible queues and never called again. This doesn't work for devices which can have queues hot-plugged at run-time. This can be made to work by passing the 's...

[PATCHv6 1/4] virtio: add names to virtqueue struct, mapping from devices to queues.
From: Rusty Russell <rusty at rustcorp.com.au> Add a linked list of all virtqueues for a virtio device: this helps for debugging and is also needed for upcoming interface change. Also, add a "name" field for clearer debug messages. Signed-off-by: Rusty Russell <rusty at rustcorp.com.au> --- including this Rusty's patch here for completeness.

[PATCH 5/9] virtio: allow drivers to request IRQ affinity when creating VQs
Add a struct irq_affinity pointer to the find_vqs methods, which if set is used to tell the PCI layer to create the MSI-X vectors for our I/O virtqueues with the proper affinity from the start. Compared to after the fact affinity hints this gives us an instantly working setup and allows to allocate the irq descritors node-local and avoid intercon...

[PATCH] virtio-balloon: request nvqs based on features
After 86a559787e6f ("virtio-balloon: VIRTIO_BALLOON_F_FREE_PAGE_HINT"), the virtio-balloon device unconditionally specifies 4 virtqueues as the argument to find_vqs(), which means that 5 MSI-X vectors are required in order to assign one vector per VQ plus one for configuration changes. However, in cases where the virtio device only provides exactly as many MSI-X vectors as required for the features it implements (e.g. 3 for the basic configuration of inflate...
