ZFS Filesytem Corrpution
Hi,
I have been seeing data corruption on the ZFS filesystem. Here are
some details. The machine is running s10 on X86 platform with a single
160Gb SATA disk. (root on s0 and zfs on s7)

NFS issue with ZFS
I have Solaris 10 U7 that is exporting ZFS filesytem.
The client is Solaris 9 U7.
I can mount the filesytem just fine but I am unable to write to it.
showmount -e shows my mount is set for everyone.
the dfstab file has option rw set.
So what gives?

ZFS on Linux
...to use ZFS on my Centos 5.2 systems. The data I am
storing is very large text files where each file can range from 10M to
20G. I am very interested on the compression feature of ZFS, and it
seems no other native Linux FS supports it.
My question are: Is ZFS stable? How does it scale for very large
filesytems, ie, 2TB to 9TB? How is the performance of fuse? I plan to
use it on my archive server first, so data reliability is very
important
Any thoughts or ideas?
TIA

ZFS on Mac - new sighting
There''s been another sighting of ZFS on Mac. The latest developer
release of Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) has a dialogue box calling out the
"Zettabyte File System (ZFS)" as an option. The first publication I
saw this is a French website called Mac4Ever - http://mac4ever.com/
news/27485/zettabyte_sur_leopard/
I put up a Babelfish translation at my site, http://storagemojo.com/?

Can Samba export 2TB+ filesystems?
Does Samba have any max filesytem limitations.
In particular can both 2.2.8 and 3.0 support 2TB+ filesystems.
For now, I am thinking of 6TB max, so I don't need to know about
Petabytes or Exabytes.
The other side of the question, is can Win9x, Win2K, etc. work with
filesystems over 2 TB.
If the above is in a FAQ somewhere, a url would be great.

I guess that statement may not be correct, depending on which kernel subsystem
exposes the xattr? My testing was with local filesytems, not with nfsv4
mounts. Apparantly it works with nfs4_getfacl|nfs4_setfacl...

Filesystem does not support posix ACLs
Hi,
I am trying to create a build on CircleCi with smaba4 AD. It seems the filesytem doesn't support ACL's, which s3fs requires. I get the folowing error:

mismatch_cnt after 5.3 -> 5.4 upgrade
...upgrade from 5.3 (original install) to 5.4. Saturday
night, /etc/cron.weekly reported the following:
/etc/cron.weekly/99-raid-check:
WARNING: mismatch_cnt is not 0 on /dev/md0
md0 holds /boot and resides, mirrored, on sda1 and sdb1. md1 holds
an LVM volume containing the remaining filesytems, including swap.
The underlying hardware is just a few months hold, has passed the
usual memtest stuff, and has been running 5.3 well for a few months.
I'm *guessing* that due to the timing, this is related to the upgrade.
I have to admit that I forgot myself and instead of doing the glibc
up...

Hi,
When attempting to restore to LINUX RHEL5 - OCFS2 filesystem received the

kvm: vm root fs becomes ro
...and they run stock CentOS 6.4, fully
patched (not yet migrated to 6.5). The VM disk images are housed on an
NFS server. None of the VMs is particularly resource-hungry. They run
a variety of Linux distros: CentOS 5/6, Debian 6/7.
I'll start to see the VMs fail to write files to their local
filesytems. No machine in the chain has rebooted or been updated in
any significant way, but the root filesystem is off-limits. (This will
happen on just one of our servers; the other VM platforms run without
issue.)
In /var/log/messages, I'll see the following entry for each impacted

How to reserve space for a file on a zfs filesystem
Hi all,
How to reserve a space on a zfs filesystem? For mkfiel or dd will write
data to the
block, it is time consuming. whiel "mkfile -n" will not really hold the
space.
And zfs''s set reservation only work on filesytem, not on file?
Could anyone provide a solution for this?
Thanks very much

Samba and RSBAC or LSM
Hi,
I'm running Samba as a PDC for 1 year it works great.
I have one question.
In this time we need for some applications Extended Attributes (EA),
users can read, write, but not delete files.
These applications are written in Pascal (DOS mode) :o((.
Can anyone tell me, if RSBAC or LSM or any other similar project can
help ne with this problem?
Can Samba work with these EA?
Thanks,

configure options for 3.x -still experimental?
Hello. I am trying to set up SAMBA 3.x on FC4. SAMBA will be PDC with no
other server. I work at a K-12 school, so unless I want 20 episodes of
"Family Guy" in a student's folder, I need to set quotas.
I've been looking around for 2 days and I'm stumped.
I found something called smbcquotas, but it seems to apply to a mixed NT
server environment.
I heard rumors of configure

How to build vfs_zfsacl module on Linux platform?
Solaris OS has ZFS as primary filesystem, that has own implementation of ACL (NFS v4 ACL). Samba uses zfsacl and acl_xattr modules for converting NT ACL to ZFS ACL and extended attributes of file in this OS.
ZfsOnLinux team ported ZFS as a number of kernel-linked modules to Linux OS, so ZFS on Linux supports NFS ACL, deduplication, compresson and other features of Solaris ZFS v.28. But NFS ACL is
