Extremely poor ZFS perf and other observations
...e size change. The same is true for ''zpool list'' output, the usage numbers don''t change for minutes at a time. - I started a tar job to the compressed ZFS filesystem reading from another compressed ZFS filesystem. At the same time I started copying files from another ZFS filesysem (same pool & same attributes) to a remote server (GigE connection) using SCP writing to an UFS filesystem. Guess what? My scp over the wire beat the pants off of the local ZFS tar session writing to a 2x2Gbps SAN and EMC disks! I''m beginning to develop serious reservations...

ext3 filesystem lost.
...or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock: e2fsck -b 8193 <device> I tried with alternate superblocks. This happend whilst booting our NFS-server. It hanged while umounting its filesystems. We tried to remount the filesysem in question read-only, but this hanged as well. When the filesystem came back up, the filesystem was gone. The rest of the disk (the partition table) was still healthy. We are running 2.2.19 with ext3-0.0.6b and the Openwall-patch[1]. Debian potato R3. Ordered mode journaling. Ideas? -- Per A...

Help needed with plugin - Read Only access to IMAP mailbox
...l_locaiton. Setting these to the original 'rw' mount and the rest to my 'ro' bind mount. Again, messy but do-able. 3) Clients try to move messages from 'new' to 'cur' for Maildir. Every time I opened a maildir I got an error per mail (dovecot log) about read-only filesysem as the client was trying to set the Seen flag and dovecot was trying to move the 'new' mail to the 'cur' folder. My test client, mutt, has a 'read_only' option when connecting. This eliminates this issue, but I cannot get everyone to use this archive with a correctly confi...

Extending a CentOS disk without reboot
Hello, Today a virtual server under my administration ran out of disk space, so I had to get extra space to it.. while it was running, because it's an important web server without any kind of HA/Load Balancing (don't do that, kids). So what happened, is that after another administrator had extended the disk from VMWare, I tried to extend it from the OS side. Everything went well,

cannot set gpfs:sharemodes to yes
...t all seems to bo bad from the point when "gpfs_set_share failed: Operation not permitted" is logged. elow goes stuff I find interesting, full log file is megabytes long. My smb.conf is also included at the botton. Is it known issue? Any advice how to overcome that? I can't export my filesysem having sharemodes set to no - it's used heavily on Linux side.
