roaming profiles - filesyncing problem with 3.0.10
Since I upgraded from RedHat 9.0b / Samba 2.2.8 to Samba 3.0.10 I have problems with the roaming profiles of my students. Although the log-files show no errors at all, several users reports me that they are loosing files. One time I saw the problem myself, when a user logged in and had not a single file in her 'Personal Files' after logging out and logging in on the same host the whole

Configuring Rsync daemon with ssh (non-root)
Hello, I am a first time user of Rsync. I am having problems configuring an Rsync server on a Solaris server on which I have *no* root previliges. I have searched the archives and the web,but none of the articles/documents have proved helpful beyond an extent. Since I cannot be root, I have installed rsync v2.5.2 from sources in $HOME/rsync. The rsync binary is in $HOME/rsync/bin My

rsync very very slow with multiple instances at the same time.
I create a new thread, because the issue is not really the same, but i copy here the thread that made me jump into the list. Problems with Samba 2.0.6 and file modification times
Hello, I'm using Samba 2.0.6 on a newly installed SMP machine with SuSE Linux 6.2. Apparantly this Samba version does not allow any network clients to change the file modification times on remote files, as this is done by several directory synchronization tools (I personally use "filesync" to synchronize between my notebook and the server). On another Linux machine (Samba 2.0.5a on

Now same test on my server on the iSCSI disk (when there is no other activity) (2.8 millions

Mac R spinning wheel with Package Manager (PR#14005)
Full_Name: James Howison Version: 2.9.2 OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 Submission from: (NULL) (128.2.222.163) For quite a while now I have been unable to use Package Manager to install programs. I get the spinning wheel and long lock ups. This happens when I hit, "get list", but that eventually returns, seemingly successfully. However it also happens when I try to install a package, the whole
