2 GB file size limit with libsmbclient and Filesys::SmbClient perl module?!
Hi,
I have a 32-bit installation of Arch Linux and I have developed my own little script (in perl) for downloading files over SMB/CIFS using multiple TCP connections to speed up the transfer. I have googled a lot but could not find any good download accelerator for files hosted over SMB/ CIFS. For example, the DownThemAll firefox add-on allows you to download files hosted over SMB/ CIFS, but is

Filesys::SmbClient & kerberos bug?
I'm trying to use Filesys::SmbClient to connect to a windows share using
kerberos to authenticate, however, I get a permission denied error. I've
tried this on a FC5 with samba 3.0.22 and on Solaris 9 with samba 3.0.22 and
3.0.23rc2. Using kerberos with the command smbclient works however. If I
specify a password, I can connect; however, I need to use kerberos.
Since the smbclient

Speex requirements on a TI Davinci / ARM926EJ-Sid(wb)
(Resending since the archive seems to have eaten the text.)
I'm working on getting Speex running on a TI Davinci (6441), on both the
ARM and the DSP. My immediate goal is to understand the processing
requirements on different architectures so that I can properly specific
an engineering project.
I have it up and running on the ARM, and I just wanted to see if anyone

PATCH for filesys corruption in ext3 with data=journal
Hi,
as I mentioned in earlier mail to ext3-users I have been getting some
corruption on an ext3 filesystem that has been serving NFS. I am now
confident that I fully understand the problem and have a patch.
It only affects data=journal mode and I wonder if it might also be the
cause of the corruption noted by a number of people on linux-kernel.
First I will explain the problem. Then display

Templates and self-knowledge
So, I''m into templating. I *like* templating. What I *don''t* like, of
course, is to have to use multiple, similar templates for different output
files. So, let''s work a concrete example. Suppose I have a template
"standard_profile.erb" which looks like this:

Hierarchial storage management or automated archival to tape
Hi list!
While regular backup solutions like amanda or bacula are very good at
their job, ie keeping point2point copies of the files currently on
disk, I find them less suited for archiving - having unused files move
to tape in duplo and stay there until requested. I've even read of
multi-tier solutions - move to slower disks after a week and further
on to tape after a month.
Does anyone

Problem with Perl module, SmbClientParser-2.6
Hi,
I'm trying to use SmbClientParser to implement a simple SMB
crawler. After a lot of effort, I still could not get it to work. Here
is my small test script:
[CODE]
#!/usr/bin/perl
use POSIX;
use Filesys::SmbClientParser;
use DBI();
use Socket;
use Sys::Hostname;
use strict;
my $host;
my $smb = new Filesys::SmbClientParser

PATCH: Makefile.in more upgrade friendly.
Hello again,
In my constant recompiles of 2.9p1 and 2.9p2, I've noticed that
upgrading a current installation with a test compile leads to tons
of files being updated even when they don't need to be.
The attached patch for Makefile.in splits the install-files target
into a bunch of serparate targets: install-dirs, install-prog,
install-man, install-conf, which are then all called in

Harddisk gone bad
Hi all,
I know this is the EXT3 list, and my problem is with an EXT2 filesys, but I cannot seem to find a more suitable list on this server, and I have seen a lot of knowledge go by on this list and in the archives, so I thought I'd give it a try anyway...
Here goes nothing:
I am in a terrible problem: My data disk on my Linux server has gone bad, with approx 18 GB of data on it, and I

DomU loses 2 month data after lost electricity
Hello,
I tried to research about something like lost data on DomU, didn`t find
any clue.
My electricity power went out for server and I started server couple
hours after and I got lost on DomU 2 month data. On Dom0 seems to be all
ok, on DomU was data before last reboot, two month ago.
Dom0 and DomU is on the same discs, on raid1(mirror) only separated by
partitions. DomU on top lvm and ext3

special tricks for developers box on centos 5
I was just wondering if there are special tricks people do
that compile A LOT on centos? Do RAM disks help or something else I dont
about that minimizes your compile time? I presently have and AMD x2
4800+ with 2GIG ram.
Just curious if I can reduce any more time out of my compiles.
