Authentication problems using libsmbclient API and DFS shares
...know that you can get this information by logging
on to the DFS root server, but I'm trying to use the libsmbclient API to
get this information.
I have created a fairly simple DFS
structure on 2003 servers with everything on the same domain.
//MyDomain/DFSRoot
/Link1 -> //Fileserv-1/FileShare1
/Link2 -> //Fileserv-2/FileShare2
On the command line I
can traverse the DFS tree without any problems, so using smbclient I can
perform the following steps:
# smbclient //10.4.1.107/DFSRoot
-A ./credfile
Domain=[ENG-DEV] OS=[Windows Server 2003 3790]
Server=[Windows Server 2003 5.2]...

Problem with Snow Leopard and Samba
We have a user who purchased a Mac Book Pro with OSX 10.6.2.
Everyday he has a problem with one or another Samba Server. One day it's
FileShare1 , the next day it's ProductionData Server.
I use Windows and Linux and neither has a problem connecting to these
servers. He has XP in VMWare Fusion and that works fine. But about every
other day he comes and says some server won't allow him to connect.
Sometimes a reboot will fix the pr...

Help with openldap for "valid users" and netbios
Hi. Is it possible to retrieve values for valid users and netbios using
openldap? I noticed that there's only one ldap filter. So I can only
retrieve one of these using ldap? Or can I section off the ldap information
under [fileshare1], [printershare3], ...? Thank you.

Access denied
Hello,
Samba 1.9.16p11 on Sun OS 5.6
For a NT4 Server SP4, I can not access to the samba server. When I look
at the log.MachineName file, I see the error "password server not
avalaible".
I must say that it is working fine with an NT4 SP4 server on the same
domain with the same user account.
I have change the registry to authorize non-encrypted password.
......
Thanks.
