Filelocking Issue in 4.18.11
Hi Felix, On 4/18/24 08:33, Stolte, Felix via samba wrote: > Is this a bug or maybe a misconfiguration? In the latter, which parameters could cause this? I guess the nodes end up using different combinations of dev/inode as primary key for the locking.tdb record. Probably because the device numbers differ on the nodes and you didn't fix this known issue with GPFS with the fileid VFS

No filelocking at "shared-mailboxes" dictionary?
...CLs on many accounts simultaneously in four concurrent IMAP-sessions. I started with an empty file "shared-mailboxes". But after the sync the file "shared-mailboxes" has been crashed. I found broken lines and I'm missing some entrys. Is it possible that there's no filelocking on that file? I used the ext3 filesystem. That's what shred-mailboxes looks like at the moment: shared/shared-box 1 shared/shared-boxes/user/user1.example.com/user2.example.com 1 .example.com/user5.example.com 1 hared/shared-boxes/user/user6.example.com/user4.example.c2442203233424^? 1 ser/...

Filelocking Issue in 4.18.11
Hi folks, we are running a clustered Samba Fileserver using CTDB with two public IPs. We observed the following (mis) behavior: If user A with write permissions opens an excel file via public ip A and User B opens the same file via public ip B, both users get a Deny-Write lock on the same file and overwrite each others changes: 0:3693691 145522 DENY_WRITE 0x12019f RDWR

Re: Filelocking-Problem: Mars_NWE together with Samba
Hi there, we've got the following problem, while Windows-Clients works with samba and a DOS-Client connects over Mars_NWE to the same Linux-Server: When the DOS-Client opens a file on the linux-server and the WinClient opens the same file, and when both clients want to write the same file, the windows-client gets an error and crashes. We tried it only with the windows-clients and there

Centos-4.3: Filelocking problems under high [network related] load with kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp
Hi, first of all, please CC me on any reply, as I am only subscribed to the digest. OK. Here is the problem. Said kernel (from 4.4) seems to have problems with file-locking when the system is under high, likely network related, load. The symptoms are things using file locking (rpm, the user-space automounter amd) fail to obtain locks, usually stating timeout problems. The sytem in question is

using VSS on a samba server - no smb locks ?
Hi all, We are considering moving our VSS database from a Win2K server to a samba server. All clients are Win2K clients. I used the VSS tool "testlock.exe" to make sure the native lock mode can be used. The test was successful, and I saw that an SMBlock transaction was performed, and a reply_lockingX was replied. When I opened a VSS database on the samba server and started to use it -

dovecot and cloudfile systems
...vecot has any problems using maildirs across a limited fuse file system. I cant lock files, This is accessed using the fuse library. I thought taking out the standard checking for return values would be a work around because everything imap daemon is doing can be done from a shell by hand except filelocking and setting times on files. I am doing this on Rack Spaces cloud files. This is something that not many if any are doing. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-= This e-mail (including attachments) is covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, 18 U.S.C. State-of-the-art NLP models from R
Hola Diego, Prueba a hacer otra cosa.

State-of-the-art NLP models from R
My environment is "heterogeneous" my authentication and home server are currently stuck on a 1G shared network, the production servers and storage servers are on a bonded 40G network, all are in the same VLAN. I have about 100 servers on the 40GB bonded network each with 12cores and 128GB of memory. They are running centos 6.6 Except for my storage servers they are all just running

[PATCH 0 of 8] xl/libxl autoballooning
Hi all, this patch series adds some new memory management functions to libxl that are used by xl to autoballoon dom0 down by the amount of memory needed by the new domain build. In order to avoid conflicts with other xl instances during the memory accounting operation I am introducing a global filelock. I am also introducing a global configuration file for xl to enable/disable autoballooning.

File locking and Linux 2.0.30
Hi there, I'm wondering if it's neccesary to have mandatory file locking (CONFIG_LOCK_MANDATORY) compiled into the kernel for the filelocking done by Samba to work properly. TIA, Rudo... ************************* * C.R.J. de Jong (Rudo) * * E-mail: crj@dds.nl * *************************

Samba, slow performance and crashing databases
...amba in RedHat Linux 5.0. It works almost ok... First of all, I think everything is MUCH to slow. I am running it on a Pentium Pro 200MHz with 64Mb RAM. And there is only 5 clients using it. I'm using version 1.8.19p3 on an RedHat 5.0 Server. Is there something special I need to do about the filelocking?? Or have I just done something wrong during setup...? Before this I had a Novell NetWare 4.1 as a fileserver, it was much faster. When I transfer files to or from the samba server it works very good, but when I have a database (Paradox) on the server with several people using it at the same ti...

Two MS Access questions (compact database & Access XP)
...ersion 2.2.7, with a variety of Win2k boxes connecting to it) and I have a couple of quick MS Access questions (in the hopes someone out there has had any experience with these things): 1) We have one rather large (700MB+) Access database on the Samba server which is only in use by one user (no filelocking issues). This user regularily uses the 'Compact Database' option from within MS Access on the client computer (Tools->Database Utilities->Compact Database). Since we have switched to Samba, everytime the user chooses this option, it crashes her machine (completely, as in the syste...

File locking (smb mount)
...e is a known solution - to run all instances in the same wineserver (the same wineprefix of the same user on the same computer). This solution does not apply to me, because I do already have some Windows-based clients in my network. I googled a little bit, and I found this: http://wiki.winehq.org/FileLocking This is the most interesting part: > As much of the file locking as possible is done at the file system level, but the only filesystem that supports the Windows style locking semantics is smbfs. The rest we have to emulate in the wineserver. It means, that actually... my application should w...

Filesystem Locking or lack of locking issues
Good Day, I'm running into some issues and wondered if there are a few of you that can assist. Or please let me know if this is better off in a Java forum (but figure the Samba crew knows a bit more about filesystems then the java team :) Information prior to question/concern: Samba Ver: Version 3.0.6 OS: Linux sc8-a7-lri4.rsc01.net 2.4.20-30.9smp #1 SMP Wed Feb 4 20:36:46 EST 2004 i686

No locks available... help wanted!
...The server was working like a charm before ... server specs are: debian (almost virgin) + ruby on rails 0.13 + lighttpd + fastcgi. After searching google, I can''t find anything helpful that relates to the errors I am getting. I can''t find any reports from others about Ruby (or filelocking) problems either. All obvious thinks like restarting server, deleting /tmp/ruby_sess* etc. is done without result. The filesystem is ext3. Any indication on what may be causing this is greatly appreciated.
