code 12 error when specifying files
...was unable to find an exact answer to my issue, so
here's my post:
We have a file structure on our servers which involves a folder that
contains hundreds of info files about particular things that all look like
this format: .a.b.c(.old/.new)
If I run the following command:
rsync user@node::filefolder
I get a directory list AOK -- it lists out all the hundreds and
hundreds of files.
If I run the following command:
rsync user@node::filefolder/.*
I get error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12)
If I choose a wildcard which contains only a few files:
rsync user@node::filefolder/.8....

Bug in file.access on Windows when using network shares
...hared files under certain circumstances.
One situation I've seen it in are when a file is shared from a non-Windows
host (e.g. Linux), which is similar to the situation documented at
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/f57928d3-d89b-426d-a174-d06d97355afc/how-to-check-if-a-filefolder-is-writable-or-not?forum=windowssdk

The other situation arises when a file is cached offline by Windows Offline
files feature. The call to GetFileSecurityW works fine when the network is
up (and so the file is being accessed from the share), but fails when the
network is down and the file is b...

Samba 2.2.12 winXP can't see system under mynetwork
Hi,
File server - samba 2.2.12
serving win95 and winXP systems.
Win95 systems see network appropriately.
WinXP systems can see the files
when I do
run > \\servername\filefolder\
but NOT when I go into
my network places...
What do I need to do to fix this?
notes -
a)
changing the samba config files
at times knocks out the win95 clients..
(config file below)
b)
winXP pro systems - w/SP1
user id and passwd sync'ed with Samba server
c)
No PDC..
thanks
b
