any recent experience combining GlusterFS w/ Xen?
...ronment to a 4-node environment - and I''d really like to be able to
create/migrate/failover/delete VMs transparently across all 4 nodes.
Seems like Gluster might be a good storage platform.
Anybody have any recent experience they could share along these lines?
Thanks very much,

any opinions on debian vs. opensuse for Xen?
...eyes on).
So... I''m wondering if anybody has any opinions, based on direct,
hands-on experience on Debian vs. OpenSuse as a base for a configuration
consisting of 2 production machines configured for high-availability
failover of Xen VMs, using DRBD and Pacemaker?
Thanks much,

interesting installation problem - interaction between drbd and xen
...ION:
This isn''t really a bug with any one piece of code - it''s a bug in the interaction, specifically in the naming/ordering of the init package. And I expect that this may be specific to packaging (I''m going to do more digging). SO WHERE DO I FILE A BUG REPORT?

how well will this work
...(6 months or so back), it looked like some of the critical features
were brand new, and performance seemed to be a problem in the
configuration I'm thinking of.
Which leads me to my question: Has the situation improved to the point
that I can use Gluster this way?
Thanks very much,

help configuring netboot over remote serial terminal
...prefix: Trying to load: pxelinux.cfg/default ok
Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Or at least some guidance
as to which config file might need tweaking (I'm not quite sure which
order these are getting executed in, or at what steps of the boot process.)
Thanks very much,

XCP graphical display on VM
Hi All,
I plan to use Xen (most probably XCP) to virtualize
two servers: one running OpenBSD, the other running FreeBSD.
These both servers will be running more or less headless (at least
without any graphical environment). I would want
to add a third server (most probably a Debian Squeeze or Freebsd)
to have a desktop (light, probably IceWM or XFCE).
The physical machine will have VTx but

of stuff?
7. Am I going to take tremendous performance hits from all of this?
8. Am I crazy for considering all of this? (Maybe heresy on this list,
but am I better off considering an all Linux/vserver, or all BSD/jails
approach?)
Thanks very much, in advance, for any suggestions.

Debugging (possible) Xen-related hang-issues without the possibility of attaching serial console to capture Xen output
Hey all!
I''m currently in the process of trying to debug a (possibly!)
Xen-related issue (with Kernel 3.2.9-vanilla as Dom0, and Xen 4.1.2
[almost] vanilla, except for a patch for CVE-2012-0029), where a system
freezes without me being able to ascertain a triggering event. The
system console is completely unresponsive in the event of hangs (i.e.,
displays motd and the login prompt,

XEN - ZFS
Hello,
I read, and know, that ZFS + XEN are not works well together. (I''ve only
512MB for Dom0).
How I can disable/off all ZFS stuff to have more usable memory to Dom0.

Easiest way to compile custom kernel, for fedora +openswan+xen+patchomatic
I want to compile a custom xenU kernel for a firewall distribution
(endianfw, version of ipcop), I can get it to load up but the kernel is
missing some modules that aren''t resident. So I want to make a custom
version for this domU, I know what I need kernel+openswan+xen+patch-o-matic
but I not sure the best way to go about this, do I patch a fedora source or
start with a vanilla kernel?

Xen License
Hi Everyone,
This is going to sound silly but...
I''m just off the phone with a Microsoft SPLA reseller. They sell licenses to run Microsoft software in a hosted environment. I was asking about obtaining Windows licenses to run on my Xen VPS hosting solution.
Maybe there is a big misunderstanding, but I''m faily sure she said that it was illegial for me to rent out Xen

xvm packages for 2008.05
It looks like xvm does not come built-in to Indiana 2008.05. Which leads to the obvious questions:
1. is xvm compatible with 2008.05 (looking to evaluate Indiana as Dom0)?
2. which packages need to be installed (still getting used to the IPS package naming structure)
Thanks!

installing debian domu
Wow... this is hard. I just installed Debian Sarge and Etch into Virtualbox, and it''s dead simple - download a regular netinstall .iso file, and use the wizard, and it all just works. On the other hand, I can''t for the life of me figure out how to get a Debian (sarge or etch) DomU up and running. All the instructions I find involve running debootstrap, which of course is only
