Dovecot 1.0-test77 endless loop hang
...or Outlook that can also store Outlook collaboration objects (calendar, tasks, notes, etc.) in IMAP messages on the server side. It does not require special server extensions, and it was actually (mostly) working with 1.0-stable. Below is a rawlog dump showing what is going back and forth. After fetching the second message, the imap process pegs the CPU and sends no more data. This also triggers a bug in the Bynari product, for which I've entered a bug report too. (mmm, mutual bug triggering :) The Connector opens two simultaneous IMAP connections: one for subscription control and one for da...

Received Date vs Date Header
I am trying to figure out why my mail clients are not correctly showing me the received date versus the date header date. I am using Dovecot 1.1B9. Here is a copy of the rawlog from Dovecot when I started up the client. Is Dovecot supposed to be sending the received date and the date header during this conversation? * OK [RAWLOG TIMESTAMP] 2007-11-30 16:48:31 * NAMESPACE ((""

Order of operations in Dovecot
Hi, I'm working on an IMAP client and had a question about the order in which commands are responded to in Dovecot. In other IMAP servers I've looked at, when you issue two commands simultaneously (i.e. pipelining) it looks something like this: a fetch something b fetch something else * 1 FETCH (result) a OK FETCH completed * 1 FETCH (result) b OK FETCH completed This works well because

Panic/backtrace in dovecot 2.2.13
Hi I'm running into regular problems with dovecot choking on "corrupted" index files. The main problem is that it doesn't sort itself out and recover. This message below is repeated regularly in the log files (until I delete the index files) I *think* the trigger to get into this situation might be a files being delivered with incorrect S= values in the filename? Which

IMAP session hangs on 8k-long commands if COMPRESS=DEFLATE is enabled
Hi there, Dovecot 2.3.7 appears to hang when the client sends a long command after enabling the IMAP COMPRESS extension [RFC 4978]. PoC script attached along with the doveconf(1) output. Without COMPRESS=DEFLATE, and with the default ?imap_max_line_length? value (64k) I'm able send commands up to 65539 bytes long (that's 3 bytes more than 2??, so maybe the leading tag and the trailing

Race condition when setting flags (\Deleted) + expunge quickly, leaving mails not deleted
Hello. I seem to have found a race condition, when setting flags on multiple emails rapidly. 5 commands including login to reproduce. Problem found using mutt in real world usage. Seems to happen both with UID STORE 1:3 and UID STORE 1,2,3 .. I have tried with the following packages, with a minimized config in a throwaway vm: https://packages.debian.org/stretch/dovecot-core Package:

FETCH BODY vs FETCH BODYSTRUCTURE + FETCH BODY.PEEK
Hello, we are developing a web page, for a ticket system, to show the email messages ordered by the biggest attachments size present in an IMAP folder, with a pagination of 100 messages per page. Each raw represents a message with "DATE, FROM, SUBJECT, the preview (the first 500 chars of the text/html of the messsage) and the list of the attachments (name + size) it contains. The

Fetch order
Hi all, Is there a function to modify the fetch order of messages? We have just migrated from Courier to Dovecot and I notice that there is a slight difference in the way messages are fetched in Dovecot compared to Courier. Both Courier and Dovecot sort the mailbox correctly (UID SORT (REVERSE ARRIVAL) UTF-8 ALL), for example: [ 13:22:02.790 ]50800314 UID SORT (REVERSE ARRIVAL) UTF-8 ALL * SORT
