Linux printing to NT printer
Hi, I am using redhat 5.1 and want to print to an hp722c on a NT 4.0 box
with service pack 3 installed. The printer works fine locally. I have
created
a win-printer spooler on the redhat machine as a SMB printer to a share
on
the NT machine called //bob/hp720. I created a printer on the NT
machine
called hp720 and shared it off as hp720 with the permissions everyone

File permissions problem - Visible Analyst
I have Samba 1.9.18p10 running on linux 2.0.35. It's being used
largely as a file server for student email, netscape bookmarks, Word
papers, etc. from Win95 clients. The configuration is pretty much the
defaults.
We have an application called Visible Analyst (VA) that needs to be
used by a few users. The bulk of the application files are shared but
a few need to be available at startup

How to sync /etc/smbpasswd with /etc/passwd ?
While we do sync our /etc/passwd whenever /etc/smbpasswd is changed via the
Samba sync option that does not seem to be possible the other way round:
I just want a /etc/smbpasswd generated from my /etc/passwd with the correct
passwords as used for the UniX login...
Is that possible ?

Strange behaviour with domain login
Hi there,
I have Samba 1.9.18p18 installed on Linux (S.u.S.E. 5.3). It
is configured to act as a domain controler for the Windoze
machines.
One of my users, which can login from his Win95 (plain text
password) without problems, wants to change his password
from the Control Panel. But every time when he logs out
after changing his password and re-logs in, the new password
is refused by the

Virtual CDROM for Unix?
Has anyone implemented a "virtual cdrom" facility as offered
on
windows? That is CD images are cached & compressed on hard
disk and shared across a network. See:
http://www.winmag.com/library/1996/1196/11r24a.htm
I have not found any news of a Unix solution. I would
like to offer one on a Linux server to Windows clients.
It should not be hard to implement with Samba...
Thanks
