Wine for next computing era
Reading the most recent news, we can see that the time has come to break the WinIntel monopoly on the world.
Many devices are emerging, many architectures are being developed.
The opensource community is getting great visibility.
We should start thinking in bringing wine to this new scenario that is approaching.
Many surprises are coming for the years to come.
Why not we bring wine to devices such

Oblivion sound effects mutted on wine-1.1.38
I have tested wine-1.1.38 with Oblivion on Gentoo and I found that the sound effects are no more being played.
I`m new to wine bugzilla and I don`t know a proper way to report bugs and regressions.
Please if someone is able to report this bug or help me find a way to fix it, I will be glad.

Regression testing on Gentoo
I'm new to regression tests on wine.
Currently, I'm using Gentoo's portage to build the latest wine and I want to know if there is a tutorial on how to make the regression tests on Gentoo.
I'm going to do what Austin English ask me to do at this bug (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21693).
Since I'm new to it and I know that Gentoo is too fragile in building things out

 A way to automatically test wine applications
I think that we are reaching a reasonable compatibility stage with windows applications.
However, there are applications that ways get progress and regressions in different areas. [Idea]
So, I was figuring out, if there is a way to automatically test applications, against Wine.
There should be a way to every new patch, be tested against a set of applications, and it automatically report the

Need for speed 2 not accepting Keyboard input
Need for Speed 2 is not accepting input from Keyboard.
It was tested on wine 1.3.0, and Ubuntu 10.04.
It seems to be a problem like we are facing on Oblivion intro, where it is not possible to skip the intro to the main screen of the game.

Uploading videos to Bugzilla and AppDB
I think that should be interesting if we could upload videos of the applications that we test on wine to the AppDB and Bugzilla.
I recently tested the WebM encoder (http://www.webmproject.org/) from Google and it seems to produce videos with a great quality and small file sizes.
The most recent versions of Chrome and Firefox are able to play this format nativily.
This would help people share their

Playing with DLLs
I wish to implement my own DLL loader and play with it's exported functions.
Do someone have any tips or documentation about how to load a DLL exported function, get a pointer to the function and call it inside the code?
It is obvious that I'm not going to replicate a full Windows compliant DLL loader like we have in wine, but I want only to understand the concepts.

Bugzilla should be application oriented
I think that Bugzilla could have an option to join all issues that are related to an specific application.
For example, if someone is testing Oblivion, there should be a place where we can relate every issue that is happening to Oblivion.
So, instead of filing a new entry on Bugzilla, people could only add another issue to an application.
In this way, people can provide more info about an

Wine applications for all users
The worst thing the happens to me when I'm backing up my home folder, is when wine creates symbolic links to my home foder, in a folder inside.
So with this, is hard to make a backup the entire home folder, if it relies in some symbolic links to folders out side the actual home folder.
Then I propose that wine could create a wine user/group and create a folder, for example /var/wineprofiles/

Make sure that Visual Studio works before 1.2 release
I was thinking that should be a good idea to make sure that at least Visual Studio 2008 is properly working in wine, before 1.2 release.
In this way, we could test specific functions in wine, by creating simple test applications to test if the system calls are working well.
I think that Visual Studio is a key application to test wine compatibility with windows, and it is an application that can be

Is wine portable to other windowing system?
Recently, people are discussing about wayland display server.
http://groups.google.com/group/wayland-display-server
I'm wondering if it will be too much work to port wine to these new display server in an event that could end with X11.

I was trying to play Oblivion on wine-1.1.35 (Gentoo) and I get an error:

Add a shortcut for Wine's Internet Explorer
Create a shortcut for Wine's Internet Explorer in wine's menu entry.
It should help people test more easily this new feature that is being improved in this wine development cycle.

Oblivion working nearly perfection on Wine 1.3.0!
Thanks wine developers for allowing us to play Oblivion on Linux.
