re ferring to data of previous rows
Dear Rlers,
in the following dataset I would like to insert a new column that refers to
the data of the previous row.
My question is whether the probability of a female (Id) changes if she had
given birth to a pup in the previous year. So my dataframe consists of the
column Id, year (2003-2007 for each Id) and offspring (=of; 1-0):
Id year of

1 2004...

How to find out, if samba has SSL/LDAP support or not ?
Hi,
I'm the developer of KSambaPlugin.
Is there a way to find out if samba
was compiled with SSL / LDAP support or not ?
I want to disable the options in the
case that samba doesn't support them.
Thanks,

applying a set of rules to each row
...data set
below. The rule sets are the guidelines for determining an individual's
date for retirement eligibility. The rules are found in this document,
http://www.opm.gov/feddata/RetirementPaperFinal_v4.pdf. I am only
interested in the top two categories for retirement eligibility, the
CSRS and FERS plans.
The data set has four variables Date of Birth (DOB), service computation
date (srvCompDT), retirement plan (retirePlan), and the age at which the
employee entered federal service (ageFedStart). The service computation
date is used to compute the date eligible for retirement. The retiremen...

Postfix , Dovecot & the Spam fight
Hi,
I'm currently busy with a substiution of my current mail server. I'm
currently using
* Clam-SMTP and
* SpamAssassin
to fight Spam. I wonder if it is worth implementing AmaViS with
SpamAssassin backend instead and also using AmaViS to speak to clamd
directly. But I more and more wonder wether AmaViS is even worth it?! It
currently looks to me as if AmaViS is eating LOTS of

Miserable read performance (factor ~60 too slow)
...extremely (an I really mean EXTREMELY) bad
performance. It is so bad that it can not have anything to do with
performance "tuning", it must be a configuration error somewhere.
Doing some comparisons, I find that
- copying a 700MB file from the CIFS share of the Windows XP box to a
different Windows PC starts immediately and takes about two minutes.
- copying the same file via HTTP from the new Samba server takes a
little more than one minute (10.5 MB/sec).
- copying the file from the Samba share varies hugely. It can take
between 90 seconds and literally hours (!).

Content-Enconding
Hi,
With Apache one may use "mod_deflate" in order to reduce bandwidth by
using e.g. gzip to compress the http traffic. I would like to use
something similar for email traffic between mail clients to dovecote and
postfix. My questions are:
a) Is this established well enough in most mail clients?
b) Can you recomment a good tutorial for this?
Thank you very much
