WinXP clients connect slowly to Samba
...ssion to the Samba servers ASAP rather than waiting the 15 minute period. Combined with the above problem, this is killing performance for several applications we have in house. read.table: skipping trailing delimiters
...asses=c("character","character",NULL). Still, the data frame is coming in with an extra column, only now its values are set to "". Is there any way to skip the trailing delimited field entirely? I've searched for an answer without luck. Thanks. Marsh Feldman

how can I use lmer on a windows machine?
...version will support these packages (when I install them from the GUI, the function lmer does not work). Random Forest
Hi, I am trying to print out my confusion matrix after having created my random forest. I have put in this command: fit<-randomForest(MMS_ENABLED_HANDSET~.,data=dat,ntree=500,mtry=14, na.action=na.omit,confusion=TRUE) but I can't get it to give me the confusion matrix, anyone know how this works? Chapters
...rences to "Chapters" in S (e.g., p. 6), but I can find no reference to "Chapters" in R. Since Chapters were not used in earlier versions of S, I'm wondering if R uses them or not. Plots don't update with xlab, etc. What am I doing wrong.

Flushing print buffer
...frame object, it only prints out the tail part. If I comment out the last two lines of the function, it does print the head part. How do I report coefficients of categorical fixed effects in a publication?
...r way, I am confused with how to report these effects succinctly, especially because for categorical variables, each category has its own estimated effect. What is a reasonable way to do this? Reading data file with both fixed and tab-delimited fields
