R GUI in Ubuntu Feisty?
Dear all,
After an update from Ubuntu Edgy to Feisty, I seem to have lost package
JGR()!?
I have updated my sources.list to point to the Feisty repos at
http://cran.ch.r-project.org/ and re-installed JGR() via:
$ sudo rm -rf /usr/local/lib/R/site-packages/*
$ sudo R CMD javareconf
$ sudo R

Upgrading to R 2.5.1 on Ubuntu Feisty 64
Hi there,
A new thread was started on the R list about problems to upgrade R to
version 2.5.1 and we were re-directed on this list. We are two with
exactly the same problem and the same distribution (Ubuntu Feisty 64).
We are unable to upgrade to R 2.5.1. The r-base-core package is version
2.4.1 in Ubuntu repositories while all others r-cran related packages
are upgraded to R 2.5.1 (r-base-dev,r-base...). This doesn't seem to be
the case for the 32-bits version.
Do you have any tips to go through th...

Updating packages in Ubuntu feisty for 2.5
Hi,
I would like to run R2.5.1 in Ubuntu feisty on an AMD64 chip.
I am a total newbie to Linux.
I have successfully compiled 2.5 however, I am not able to figure out
how to upgrade the packages.
I am not able to find an R-base-core_2.5.1-1_amd64 or all on the CRAN mirrors.
I can find one on the Ubuntu feisty site, however when I try to
install i...

Compiz starts, but no 3D effects
I just installed Compiz on Ubuntu Feisty (Gutsy does not work on my
hardware as per the release notes) via the
http://ppa.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu repo, which is the repo
suggested in the compiz-fusion website. The machine is a Dell Inspiron
E1505 / 6400 with the horrible ATI X1400 graphics card and 1680x1050
monitor. I installed XGL...

When I typed in:

Ubuntu Feisty Repository now online
For those of you running Ubuntu Feisty, you can now use the new Wine
Feisty APT repository. If you're upgrading from Edgy or installing
fresh, simply follow the instructions at
http://winehq.org/site/download-deb - the old edgy repository will be
overwritten by the command to install the Feisty one.
A debian etch repository should...

Mongrel 1.0.2 on Ubuntu Feisty
Hi everybody,
I''ve been trying to setup a Ruby on Rails application on a Ubuntu Feisty
machine and I''ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out why Nginx and
mongrel_cluster weren''t working. The setup was correct (based on some
tutorials found on the internet), but there weren''t any pid files for the
mongrels started.
In case anybody else has experienced...

C) Remove ~/.wine (and probably /root/.wine) and try again.
If you still have problems, post back.

Which version of Ubuntu to use with Rails
Hello,
This is a question for folks who are using Ubuntu to host your Rails
apps. Which version of Ubuntu do you use?
Do you use the ''Dapper'' release (6.0.6) perhaps due to the long term
support (LTS), or are you using the latest release ''Feisty'' (7.0.4)?
Or maybe a better way to ask the question is, is there a preferred
version of Ubuntu to use with Ruby and Rails?
Thanks,
denisa

...er segfaults or even
displays any warnings or anything for that matter. It just doesn't draw
the borders. I've tried every combination of gconf settings (setting
use_metacity_theme to false etc) and tried changing my metacity theme.
It still will not draw any borders. I'm running Ubuntu Feisty with
all the latest updates using an ATI x850 with the free r300 driver and
Mesa 6.5.2. Compiz itself works alright though I have some weird issues
with windows not redrawing, but I expect that is due to using a somewhat
experimental video driver. I can't seem to explain why the window

Ubuntu feisty: trouble with vmware-player host-guest access...
I post here this ''user'' triuble because i suppose it came from some
strange kernel (mis)configuration.
I''ve just upgrade from edgy to feisty, and the communication between
guest and host in bridge mode stop working.
And in a rather, at least for me, strange way.
I can ping from host to guest:
