Fwd: Samba semantics error?
...ave filed. Is there any specific reason why samba behaves this way, and doesn't use the unix semantics? Since this is even more restrictive than unix semantics, I'm more inclined to call it a bug until I know it's supposed to be this way. Disk accounting with LVM Snapshots
..., and I was reading from one of the snapshots. While I understand that the two LVs share some common Logical Extents (LE), I believe it is a bug that the disk statistics show the activity on both logical volumes. Should I report this in the centos bugzilla or upstream's bts? Thanks, Mike Fedyk

Journal Usage
Hi, I have a large journal of 400MB (the max for 4k blocks), and I'd like to be able to check how much of it is being used. If it's not being used that much, I'd like to know if the writes *from* the journal to the rest of the disk could be delayed until a certain percentage of the journal has been used. It would be nice to be able to get more contiguous writes to the journal for

Fwd: Bug#268999: shorewall: Allow action templates to use DNAT target
Hi all in the ShoreWall community, [please CC me since I''m not on the list] I had been using FIAIF for a little while, and the setup of ShoreWall has been much easier, the config for each operation in one place, and I''m very happy with it. That said, it looks like one of the concepts could be taken a bit further. In this case, it is actions. To get the process started, I

unexpected dirty buffer
Hello. On a server running 2.4.25, I have the two following errors in the kernel logfile: Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707) Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707) Should I worry about them (disk failure, filesystem damage) ? Thanks. As an addition what does the pair '08:11' means ? Is

Some MS Software doesn't work with SAMBA?
Can it be that our accounting packages don't work on SMB and only with NT? I would HATE to put a NT Box into the mix. Ruben -- Brooklyn Linux Solutions http://www.mrbrklyn.com http://www.brooklynonline.com 1-718-382-5752

Base install not on first CD with centos5?
I have everything unchecked in my package selection screen except for the default packages in "base" and it wants CDs 1, 2 and 3. Is this an upstream problem or centos problem? How should I follow up on this? A bug report in centos's bugzilla? Mike

Ordered Mode vs Journaled Mode
Hi, I've been wondering exactly what you gain by using journaled mode over ordered mode. Are there any known cases where journaled mode could recover where ordered mode wouldn't? Mike

user can no longer connect to shares
Hi, I'm using the setup defined for my RH9 box to participate in a Win2000 domain. I have server = domain, etc. This has been working fine for several months. As of this morning, one user can no longer access samba shares. His account settings haven't changed. I am able to access shares from his workstation using my account. I checked the log for his workstation. He has a number of

Installing 4.4 - problem on 386
...tOS problem at all, because I get the same error always when I boot from hd (Fedora Core), IF there is a CD in the CD-ROM drive. (I tried with CentOS 1/4, CentOS 2/4 and a HP printer software CD.) Nested MySQL Commands
Is it possible to have nested MySQL queries in extensions.conf? Ie, perform a query, grab a value, and then jump to another location in the dialplan and do another query based on that original value. I'm having problems with the result and fetchid's and I'm not sure if it's even possible to do this or not. Thanks, Doug. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

Hi, I just installed Redhat AS 2.1 on a a new machine with tons of RAID5 space. During the install, I created the partition/filesystem /largedisk with 550784264 blocks. After everything is installed and mounted, I get the following in a df: /dev/sda8 550784264 32828 522773144 1% /largedisk The avail + used != total, not even close. I realize that the 32828 is probably the

Reading transction log
I need to maintain a log that contains information on files that are read / modified . I was suggested losf, but using lsof does not solve the problem as files opened/closed between two successive runs will always be missed. With reference to the stated need I have 2 Questions. 1) can data in the journal file be of any help to me ? if yes how, ? 2) can kjournald be used in some way ?
