NFS sleepy woes
Hi all, I have a problem with a CentOS 4 and now updated to 4.1 server, every so often the other servers try to contact it and this not there a retry and it is, like it goes to sleep, I have no problem with the fedora1, RH9 and slackware machines they just never do this. its most annoying.. they all use IP's not names. all access lists are identical, all hosts files are identical, all exports and fstabs are same format. in fact one of the machines on another network altogether reponds instantly. if I reboo...

grub/raid1 on centos4
With Centos3, fedora1/2 I have been able to put /boot on a RAID1 partition and have it boot normally. Unlike earlier versions that used lilo as the default boot loader, these did not make the 2nd drive bootable but at least I was fairly confident that if the first drive failed I could use the install CD in rescue mode...

Need help debugging R.
I originally posted this to R-help, but here is probably a better place. I have a rather complex routine which works great in R. Then I bootstrap it. After running a few minutes it typically segfaults, though it happens very randomly. This happens w/ 1.9.0 and 1.9.1 on Fedora1 and a Scyld (RH7.3) system. Traces always point back to routines in src/main/memory.c, though often not the same routines. Now for the strangeness: It's never the same routines that appear in the trace. The trace gives sequential routine names that aren't called by previous routines. A...

compiz on aiglx redux
...isited compiz on aiglx and at this point, if you're running rawhide (fedora development), it's a matter of installing the i386 RPM found here: http://people.redhat.com/krh/compiz/ There's a SRPM there too for other architectures, rebuild using rpmbuild --rebuild compiz-0.0.13.fedora1-3.src.rpm To run compiz, first start the gnome-window-decorator process in the background, then run compiz as compiz --replace gconf I have an FC5 repository for those who want to try it out on FC5, but I need to dust it off and actually rebuild the relevant packages there. I'll send ou...

Samba with Mac files?
I have a Win2K Server that acts as a file server to a bunch of Macintosh machines on the network. Today I installed samba-3.0.5 on a Fedora1 machine, and mounted one of the server shares and tried to read it. Much to my surprise, I found files that are being listed like this: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 May 13 16:30 Icon?* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 25649 Aug 23 2000 webslide151.gif* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 57619 Mar 26 08:22 ???w...

Voicemail not receiving password or audio
Hi, I'm using * with the latest CVS image as of this afternoon on Fedora1. I am using snom 200's with the latest firmware. When I dial the voicemail extension and try to enter my password, * does not receive the password. The console complains about not receiving the password. Also, when I try to leave voicemail messages there seems to be no talk path and the record...
