trouble with library(FEAR) and libgfortran.so.1
Running R version 2.13.1 under Ubuntu 10.10 (kernel version 2.6.35-30-generic) on a x86-64 laptop with gfortran 4.4, I'm trying to install and use the FEAR package from http://www.clemson.edu/economics/faculty/wilson/Software/FEAR/fear.html. I downloaded the the FEAR 1.15 package for 64-bit Linux (compatible with R-2.12.0 compiled with GCC, GNU Fortran 4.1.2, Linux kernel 2.6.16.60 SMP) to the

sem vs. LISREL: sem fails
I am new to R. I just tried to recreate in R (using sem package and the identical input data) a solution for a simple measurment model I have found before in LISREL. LISREL had no problems and converged in just 3 iterations. In sem, I got no solution, just the warning message: "Could not compute QR decomposition of Hessian. Optimization probably did not converge. in: sem.default(ram =

creating a path diagram in sem
Hello, I finally run my measurement model in sem - successfully. Now, I am trying to print out the path diagram that is based on the results - but for some reason it's not working. Below is my script - but the problem is probably in my very last line: # ANALYSIS OF ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AND FEAR - LISREL P.31 library(sem) # Creating the ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AND FEAR intercorrelation matrix

Problem Installing a local package in linux
Dear all, I am "still" fairly new to R and newer still to linux (opensuse). I want to install a package called "FEAR" from "http://www.clemson.edu/economics/faculty/wilson/Software/FEAR/fear-download.html". So, I downloaded the tar.gz file called "FEAR-linux-64bit-2.6.16.60-0.21-smp.tar.gz" and it is in the directory "/home/sambit/Downloads"

Resuming the discussion of establishing an LLVM code of conduct
...you're contradicting LLVM's own description that it's a friendly community. Also: How many is "many, many", actually? How many of these are really in fear, how many are just trying to impose their mindset without actually planning to contribute in earnest, how many are so fearful that they should really seek professional help? > There are many who aren’t responding > because they agree we need one and just want this thing done and > don’t want to talk about it anymore. Well, I can imagine that those who want to push in that direction don't want the opposit...

capturing output from Win 98 shell
How can I best achieve the following (works in Splus): filenames <- dos("dir *.sasb7dat /b") What I am asking, more generically, is: how can I capture the output of a DOS command in R? I have tried using system("COMMAND.COM /c dir /b", intern=T, show.output.on.console=T) where intern: a logical, indicates whether to make the output of the command an R

I've forgotten, why is box("") the default?
I've searched on CRAN for axes, axis, and other terms I've already forgotten, without (re)discovering the reason for S using "non-joining" axes by default, instead of box("l"). MASS points me towards Cleveland (1993) but I don't have ready access to this any more. Could someone give me a one-liner to justify this choice to a sceptic? It's something to do

FEAR 2 on WINE 1.1.21???
Hi there, I got this problem, it's making me frantic: I got fear 2 as a present and installed it via wine, after installing vcrun2008 with winetricks, the game worked perfectly(wine 1.1.18/19). The Texture were black at 1st, but deactivating the game's graphic effect Ambient Lighting(not sure about the name, but it's the last option in the fear 2 graphic settings) fixed the game.

Problems with Fear 2 Project Origin
Hi guys I have taken a rather long strange trip through linux, jumping from one distro to another and I've settled on Arch Linux. Anyway I seem to have a problem with Fear 2. I cannot get the sound to work. It works during the first two logo videos when you start the game, but will not work afterward. I have several other games all through Steam that work fine but this game has sound issues. I

Windows shortcuts (Fear server)
Is there a way to make windows shortcuts work under wine. The Fear server exe (a FPS game) looks for a server config file somewhere in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ which is a shortcut in the directory the server.exe is located in. I've tried naming a folder the same as the shortcut name in windows but that didn't work. I've also tried executing it with wine fearserver.exe

Problem with data.frames
Hi, I just encountered a problem in R that may easily be fixed: If one uses attach for a data.frame e.g. 10000 times and forgets detach, then R gets incredibly slow (less then 10% of the original speed). My system: platform powerpc-apple-darwin6.0 arch powerpc os darwin6.0 system powerpc, darwin6.0 status major 1 minor 6.1 year 2002

FEAR Combat mouse lag/choppy
I've been trying to get FEAR Combat to work out with WINE and, at first, had no problem with any mouse lag. Then, started getting ridiculous and unplayable choppy mouse lag. All while the game itself runs over 100 FPS. The mouse lag kills it. I'm running WINE 1.3.17 on Ubuntu Maverick (64-bit) 10.10 Please and thank you anyone who can help me with this! D:

grep and gsub on backslash and quotes
The following code works, to gsub single quotes to double quotes: line <- gsub("'", '"', line) (that's a single quote within doubles then a double within singles if your viewer's font is not good). But The R Language Manual tells me that Quotes and other special characters within strings are specified using escape sequences: \' single quote \"

Asterisk Security Audit?
Has Asterisk ever been audited for common security holes, such as buffer overruns? A quick grep through the source for routines that should never be used, like strcpy, strcat, etc., reveals a lot of it. I fear I fear. Has anyone flung pathology at IAX2 to see if it stands up to malformed packets? (This is always an issue when you have a protocol that only a small number of programs use ...) I
