How to add e.g. lines to a zoo plot?
...c(3,4,3)),order.by=x)
plot(y.zoo)
and want to add a straight line like
lines(x,c(2,2,2),col="blue")
to the first panel. How can I achieve this? Performing the "lines" does
indeed create a line, but puts it in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks in advance

Access denial
Hi,
My name is Tom Faulhaber. I am the network administrator at a small company
in Providence,RI.
I am running Samba 2.2.2 on a Redhat 6.1 machine on a Novell 4.21 network.
The workstations are Win98SE. The Linux box is being used for the company
intranet (Apache 1.3.22).
Everything runs fine, however I am completely stump...

I don't have any idea how to program this in an elegant way in R. Any

generalized linear mixed models with a beta distribution

inclusion of random effects.
Does anyone know of a package or code for a generalized linear mixed
model that allows a beta distribution? Transforming my data might allow
me to use another family, but I would rather not transform the data if
possible. Thanks for your help!

power and sample size for a GLM with poisson response variable
Hi all,
I would like to estimate power and necessary sample size for a GLM with
a response variable that has a poisson distribution. Do you have any
suggestions for how I can do this in R? Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Craig

Is the random number generator biased?
Hi all,
in order to verify some results I did the following test in R (2.4.1.,
windows system):
X <- cumsum(rnorm(1000000))
for (i in 1:1000) {
tmp <- seq(1,length(X),by=i)
X.coarse <- X[tmp]
X.return <- diff(X.coarse)
X.scale.mean[i] <- mean(X.return)
}
plot(X.scale.mean,type="l")
As X is a random walk with

power and sample size for a GLM with Poisson response variable
...4261000 Poisson random variates simulated

I tend to think the true power is greater than 0.567 but less than 0.96
(not as small as 0.2438309).
Maybe I am still not using the asypow functions correctly?
Suggestions/comments welcome.

How to avoid a for-loop?
Hi all,
as I am trying to move slowly from just "working" to "good" code, I'd
like to ask if there's a smarter way than using a for-loop in tasks like
the example below.
I need to obtain the extrema of the cumulated sum of a detrended time
series. The following code is currently used, please have a look at the
comments for my questions and remarks:

Wildcard X100P or TDM400P?
I'm looking to add a single FXO port to my Asterisk box. It looks like
my options are a Digium Wildcard X100P off eBay for $6.99, or a
Wildcard TDM400P with an FXO Module from Digium for $125.
Can anyone explain the tradeoffs (other than the ability to put 4
FXO/FSO modules on the TDM400P). What about RTC for the system - I
know the TDM400P provides it. Does the X100P?
Thanks!
