LOL. This is a horrible subject line.? I've been trying to resolve a DDOS issue, and ignoring a lot of email.? Here I had been thinking this was a sex-spam, and I just got around to wondering why the spam system isn't working quite right and they kept coming in.? :P Not sure if this was suggested, but use SSD's.? With a ton of mail combined with Maildir random reads/writes,

Loops (run the same function per different columns)
...y)){ ?lst1[[i]] <- gvlma(lm(get(y[i])~MilesLastFill,data=CarMileageNew)) ?lst1} pdf("gvlmaplot.pdf") ?lapply(lst1,plot) dev.off() You could also use ?lapply(). A.K. Hi I have a spread sheet with a column Samples (column1) and then 34 more columns with different concentrations of fatty acids per sample. Im trying to run the same function 34 times. In this case (the first of 34), I have a fatty acid called C14.0 (column 2). I'm a newbie with R so I spent the last 4 days looking for a way of doing it (without running the same function 34 times with a different fatty acid each t...

extremely slow "ls" on a cleared fatty ext3 directory on FC4/5
...and subdirectories on it) and find that its size is stupidly large (it is 131M even after deletion) compared with 4K for normal directories. -bash-3.00# ls -alFdh /tmp* drwxrwxrwt 4 root staff 4.0K Aug 12 23:17 new_tmp/ drwxrwxrwt 4 root staff 131M Aug 12 20:30 tmp/ Anyone know why the former fatty directory still looks unchanged and takes hours to traverse even after 99.999999% files got removed? If there are any ways to fix this kind of problem without rebooting machine? I'm afraid of the commands "rsync -avHn /tmp/ /new_tmp/; rm -rf /tmp/ && mv /new_tmp/ /tmp" becau...

Unconsistent behaviour of function cor()
Odd behaviour of function cor() in R-2.10.1-64bit-Unix In a dataset with 1366 patients and 244 clinical variables Spearman's Rho was calculated for some fatty acids and BMI and came over something rather odd: R seems to calculate Rho differently on 2.10.1-64bit-Unix and 2.9.0-32bit-Windows when I calculate the complete (244x244) correlation matrix and then pick out the values I am interested in! The 2.9.0-32bit-Windows version calculates the Rho for...

hunting the fatty
Hello dear list, I've recently discovered 'doveadm stats' and I'm trying to use "doveadm stats dump user" and "doveadm stats dump session" to understand the pop/imap users that put more stress on the hard disks. My problem is that some users refuse to delete their emails from the server, so they keep 20GB of maildir files on the server, the webmail (roundcube)

SPSS long variable names
Hello guys I am new to this list and for R too. I am wondering if there is a patch for the SPSS reading code on the foreign package, in order to be able to read long variable names. Right now read.spss() just trunc the names to 8 characters. Or if someone could help me on other way: I have to process everyday a lot of SPSS Syntax Files and Dat files that come from one system that can only export
