FARFON lives!
Some of you have been following our progress on http://farfon.convergence.com.pk as we blundered our way through the development of a low-cost ethernet IP phone that does IAX and augments the client options currently available for the kick-assterisk server. With help from the denizens of #asterisk and kind words of advice from Mr. Spencer and the rest of the gang ... we're proud to have

What my IAXy could have been...
Hi, methinks that in the good 3 months since i ordered an IAXy, things have changed so much that now almost anybody out there with a VoIP hardweare website offers complete phones for less money than the IAXy, with support for both IAX2 and SIP in many cases, and fully configurable via its own keypad. What would you recommend as a rugged, small, and easy to configure/use self-contained unit that

Are there any IAX speaking "hardphones" out there? If so, can anyone offer comment on their quality? Thanks! -Dorn

Asterisk at CeBit 2005
Hi there, I just wanted to point out that Asterisk will be present at CeBit this year. We gathered some money from sponsors and were able to afford a booth together with a training-company. We'd be happy to find others joining us at the booth somewhere between 10th and 16th of March in Hannover, Germany :-) Kind regards ... -- Thilo R??ler Linup Front Pallaswiesenstrasse 203 64293

IAX2 and TEXT
Hello! I'm looking for TEXT sending over IAX2, more precisely sending text messages between IAX2 softphone and asterisk. Currently I'm trying iaxComm and I was able to send a text message from asterisk to iaxComm (with AGI SEND TEXT). After some searching I got some questions: 1. is it possible to send text messages during a call (established or during ringing)? 2. is it possible to send

ATA with IAX protocol
Who else makes Analog Telephone Adapters with IAX protocol besides Digium? I've seen Farfon is advertising their unit but I'm not sure if they shipped it or not. Why is so hard for others to support this protocol in their adapters? SIP is totally unsuitable for firewall traversal for security reason. I would like to get min. two port unit. Is it possible to use IAX protocol without

IAXy's apparantly failing in the field
I am not sure if this is the place for Digium user-to-user discussion, but... We have deployed many (20+) IAXy's in the field. At a couple of locations, the IAXy's have just stopped working after 1 or 2 days use. No lights go on, no DHCP lease is renewed as far as we can tell, and of course no dialtone and no registration with the server. Has anyone else experienced high failure rate

Any 24 (or 30) way FXS PCI cards?
It seems to me silly to have a T1/E1 card to connect to a channel bank when you could just have a 24/30 way FXS card in the slot in the first place. Does such a thing exist? Wouldn't Digium have a lot of customers if they could produce one for say < $1000 retail?

Cost of IP Phones, or Isn't It Just Software?
I took a little foray into pricing out IP Phones for my home pbx yesterday. $75-$750 seems to be quite a range, so I took a closer look. Cisco, for example, has different models such as the 7940 and 7960 which seem to only differ in the software. And buying a Cisco 7920 should cost you $500 w/o a license, and $200 more with a license? It seems to me that these prices are substantially

SIP, * and clients behind NAT
I am new to VOIP, Linux and Asterisk. Through a lot of reading (this list, voip-info.org, documentation, etc.), I successfully installed FC3 and * on a new Dell SC420 with two X100P connecting to two PSTN lines at my office. I've also installed AMP to help me configure IVRs, call groups, extensions, etc. I use a Handytone-286 ATA and x-lite clients on the internal network and all works

Call Transfer
hi, Can anybody pls tell me, how to increase the time gap between 2 digits when you transfer a call. ie, the operator answers the call, and presses hash key to transfer, and then enters the extension number, some times, it timeouts too quickly before the operator enters the whole extension number (may be bcos the operator is slow). I tried the following, but it doesn't seems to be helping

IAXy - anyone using them yet?
I haven't seen much activity on the list concerning Digium's IAXy standalone FXS device. Are they worth $100 ? Do they integrate well with * as an extension's FXS ?
