video problem since 2015-04-01 update
Is there a way in Centos 7 to boot into an alternate video setup? Some distributions have an option to boot into something called VESA (or something similar). Something that might not have the fanciest features, but more likely to at least just work. [LLVMdev] Version Control Upgrade?
...sy and fun to use. Really! If you has half an hour to burn, visit http://perforce.com , download the software and have a play. You get "the real thing", the only difference is that without a license file, you can't create more than two accounts or workspaces. Perforce is not the fanciest thing out there, but it's simple and it works well. My two yen, Duraid P.S. Perhaps a minor point in this era of 400GB hard disks and 2GHz CPUs, but worth mentioning: Perforce is _FAST_.

R-alpha: libraries, modules, namespaces, ...
...ages like Java, Dylan, Perl, Python, Fortran 90, etc., all provide some variant of a module system with control over what gets exported from and imported to modules. I believe something of that flavor would be very useful in R (or any system). Lots of variations are possible -- SML probably has the fanciest system of any I know, Common Lisp's packages are arguably at the other end. An outline of what might be needed: For module writers specify scope of module (part of file, all of file, several files?) specify exports, i.e. things that are to be (easily) accessible when the module is us...

Dear Listserv, Here is my latest in a series of simple-seeming questions that dog me. Okay, thanks to all who took the time to reply. What a shame; I hadn't planned on spending Easter weekend learning to do kernel upgrades, but . . . here it goes. [LLVMdev] Version Control Upgrade?
LLVMers, The oversight group has been kicking around the idea of getting a better version control system than CVS. The problem is, we're not quite sure what "better" means. So, we thought we'd ask your opinions. If you're interested in this topic (and you should be if you're actively developing), please have a look at this site:

promptFunctions() to handle multiple names
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Hi all, I wanted to set up my first (private) R-package and wondered if there was a function to prompt() for multiple aliases in one Rd-file, e.g. to create something like the normal distribution manual page encompassing rnorm, dnorm,... As I didn't find it, I modified prompt.default() and wrote a small function to do this job, called

four wildcards in a single pc
Hi. Please excuse me asking this again. But it really puzzles me. We're installing asterisk at a branch office at NJ (HQ is at Petach-Tikva) It'll need to support 5 POTS lines, 11 analog extensions and four VOIP phones. I wanted to go with a T1 card from digium and a channel bank, but we have a dead line. It has to be up and running by January 1st. I don't have the time to start
