[PATCH -next 000/491] treewide: use fallthrough;
There is a new fallthrough pseudo-keyword macro that can be used to replace the various /* fallthrough */ style comments that are used to indicate a case label code block is intended to fallthrough to the next case label block. See commit 294f69e662d1 ("compiler_attributes.h: Add 'fallthrough' pseudo keyword fo...

[PATCH][next] drm/nouveau: Use fallthrough pseudo-keyword
Replace the existing /* fall through */ comments and its variants with the new pseudo-keyword macro fallthrough[1]. Also, remove unnecessary fall-through markings when it is the case. clang 10 -Wimplicit-fallthrough
Hi. I upgraded my main build host and the clang -Werror builds started failing. This is because clang 10's -Wimplicit-fallthrough doesn't understand /* FALLTHROUGH */ but rather requires __attribute__((fallthrough)): clang -Wall -O2 [...] -Wimplicit-fallthrough [...] -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=600 -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_DEFAULT_SOURCE -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -c /openbsd-compat/base64.c openbsd-compat/base64.c:284:3: error: unannotated fall-throu...

fallthrough to a separate case/default label break; isn't very readable. Convert pseudo-keyword fallthrough; statements to a simple break; when the next label is case or default and the only statement in the next label block is break; Found using: $ grep-2.5.4 -rP --include=*.[ch] -n "fallthrough;(...

[LLVMdev] PROPOSAL: LLVM_FALLTHROUGH macro for intended fall-throughs between switch cases
Hi llvmdev, llvm-commits, There was a discussion on this topic a while ago, and now I've decided to make a formal proposal and post it here. I propose to add the LLVM_FALLTHROUGH macro for specifying intended fall-through locations between switch cases. *INTRODUCTION* The switch construct of C/C++ languages allows fall-throughs between switch labels when control flow is not directed elsewhere by a break, return or continue statement or other ways. There are certain coding...

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: mark expected switch fall-through
In preparation to enabling -Wimplicit-fallthrough, mark switch cases where we are expecting to fall through. This patch fixes the following warning: drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau_bo.c:1434:53: warning: this statement may fall through [-Wimplicit-fallthrough=] Warning level 3 was used: -Wimplicit-fallthrough=3 This patch is part of the ongoin...

[LLVMdev] PROPOSAL: LLVM_FALLTHROUGH macro for intended fall-throughs between switch cases

I only need an approval from community to add this macro and replace comment-only fall-through annotations with the *LLVM_FALLTHROUGH...

[Bridge] [PATCH 000/141] Fix fall-through warnings for Clang
Hi all, This series aims to fix almost all remaining fall-through warnings in order to enable -Wimplicit-fallthrough for Clang. In preparation to enable -Wimplicit-fallthrough for Clang, explicitly add multiple break/goto/return/fallthrough statements instead of just letting the code fall through to the next case. Notice that in order to enable -Wimplicit-fallthrough for Clang, this change[1] is meant to be rev...

[LLVMdev] Bug in BranchFolding.cpp:OptimizeBlock
I've ran across an issue in BranchFolding.cpp where it is incorrectly folding a branch to the wrong fallthrough location. This is in LLVM 2.4 and seems to be in 2.5 also. The code in question is: void BranchFolder::OptimizeBlock(MachineBasicBlock *MBB) { MachineFunction::iterator FallThrough = MBB; ++FallThrough; // If this block is empty, make everyone use its fall-through, not the block /...
