Unix user rights to join domain
...usly mentioned in the
domain admin group parameter of smb.conf and the machine account was added
to the smbpasswd of WHOCARES beforehand.
My question is: Which rights does an admin account need to be able to join
other machines into a domain? Joining Samba to a Samba PDC'd domain
appears to be faily uncommon, as I didn't find much by searching the
respective lists and groups.

Xen License
...o sound silly but...
I''m just off the phone with a Microsoft SPLA reseller. They sell licenses to run Microsoft software in a hosted environment. I was asking about obtaining Windows licenses to run on my Xen VPS hosting solution.
Maybe there is a big misunderstanding, but I''m faily sure she said that it was illegial for me to rent out Xen VMs...even if they are running Linux (some about terms and conditions).....
Please someone tell me that it was just a misunderstanding. I was under the impression that since Xen is GPL, I''m allowed to rent out Xen Guests to custom...

Creating my own YUM repository
I have already 6 Centos machines here and it is getting strange
having to pull down updates to each system.
Seems like I should set up one system to pull updates and then all
other systems to point to it.
How?
Plus then I would want to add to this repository.
Say that a number of my systems use tomcat which is only available
via rpm. I would like to be able to add it to my repository, and

OT: PRI costs in US
Hello!
Several of my customers would like to add a backup to their Internet
connection. ISDN is a good solution: decently fast for a dial-up-type
connection, yet still faily affordable. While I was at it, I decided to
look at a couple of more creative telephone service options to possibly
improve their service or lower costs at the same time. These customers
range from having just a couple of POTS lines without a key system up to
as many as 18 POTS lines into sys...

RFC: SIMD math-function library
...of this project. SLEEF has been used as part of bgclang in this way
for several years.
The library currently supports several architectures:
* x86 - SSE2, FMA4, AVX, AVX2+FMA3
* ARM - NEON (single-precision only)
* A pure C (scalar) version
* Hal's version supports PowerPC/QPX.
It is faily easy to port to other architectures. The library provides
similar functionality to Intel's Short Vector Math Library (available
with Intel's Compiler).
Roadmap:
--------
1) Get agreement on incorporating the library.
2) Renaming the public interface to use only the
implementation-res...

Looking for suggestions on how to debug pvm/snow proc's
Hi All -
I'm running a faily long script that uses rpvm & snowFT to spawn off
multiple processes with the 'clusterApplyFT' function.
Specifically, what happens is that the head node generates a number of seed
clusters that are then spawned off to the pvm cluster (in this case, nodes
on a 4 dual-core machine) using...

How to serve a subset of IMAP folders for hand held devices.
...ort, and configured it to serve only a subset my email
folders, so that way the email client on my smartphone works well and I
can read the emails I am interested in on the move.
The process of configuring two instances of dovecot on the same machine
serving different views of the same mailbox was faily complex, so I
think it would be worth documenting the process in an FAQ or suchlike
for other users.
I thought a good place to write up my method would be in the HowTo
section of the Dovecot Wiki. Is that a good idea? Can I request an
account to edit the Wiki, or should I send a draft text to an e...

Splitting BB pre SelectionDAG
Hi everyone,
I'm faily new to LLVM, I'm working on a new backend.
In my backend, one of the requirements is to split a BB on every call, I
considered putting some kind of pseudo instruction using the
TargetLowering::LowerCall function.
Before going said path, I was wondering if there is some way to split the
BB bef...

Fitting a mixed negative binomial model
Dear list members,
I want to fit a nonlinear mixed model using the nlme command. My dependent
variable takes the form of event counts for different countries over a
number of years, and hence I was going to fit a mixed effects negative
binomial model. The problem, as far as I can glean from Pinheiro & Bates
2000, is that I need a model that is not normal in the errors. All the
models they

File transfer speed issue
Hi all,
I have aproblem with Samba copying (unfortunatly I'm new to samba so my
skills are fairly limited).
I have a sun box (solaris 8) with samba 2.2.2.
Copying from sun to a nt server is fast (as good as you would expect)
however, copying from the nt server to the sun box is slow (files copy
normally, then slow to a complete halt then copy very slowly).
We cannot see anything on a

[PATCH] Btrfs: return an error from btrfs_wait_ordered_range
I noticed that if the free space cache has an error writing out it''s data it
won''t actually error out, it will just carry on. This is because it doesn''t
check the return value of btrfs_wait_ordered_range, which didn''t actually return
anything. So fix this in order to keep us from making free space cache look
valid when it really isnt. Thanks,

User mapping/login issue
I have been a bit divorced from Samba for a while and am stumped by a recently seen issue.
My Samba server (V4.8.3) is Centos 7 and the remote clients are windoze boxes at the other end of a VPN (OpenVPN).
At some point in "recent" history, access to shares on the Centos server started to fail with password failures.
The reason seems to be associated with user mapping. (See log fragment

btrfs hang in flush-btrfs-5
Hi - I''m trying btrfs with kernel 2.6.38.8-32.fc15.x86_64 (a Fedora kernel).
I''m just doing a tar-to-tar copy onto the file system with compress-
force=zlib. Here are some traces of the stuck processes.
flush-btrfs-5 seems to be stuck:

[PATCH 1/2] btrfs-progs: mixed back ref support
This patch adds mixed back ref support for btrfs programs.
The mixed back ref is a new disk format. back compatilibity
is still not implemented. To try the new disk format, you
need fresh formatted btrfs.
